In ancient times, people did not build castles...instead they used a sort of "the Mannerheim Line": under the protection of each of the stone was of 3-4 good archers, and the assault on such fortifications was worth to the enemies very costly(because the pillars were located in the "checkerboard order", on a distance of 15-20 yards apart).

The ancient gods would have been proud to gather and reap counsel in such surroundings. Faces and features seem to exist on and in these stones which give them and this beautiful scene a special story and significance..So near to the river and in sight of the powerful falls, an indescribable atmosphere and feeling is brought out in this work. Very different from your other Nordic paintings and quite stirring.
