Description I thought it time to deviate from the Lovecraftian mythos for a time and explore other aspects of myth and folklore, especially the branches that don't always get the attention they deserve.

In Irish mythology, we have a race of supernatural beings called the Fomorians. They are often portrayed as monstrous and hostile god-giants, usually representing chaos, death, and the more destructive aspects of nature. They are traditional enemies of the more benevolent supernatural races, but the relationship is complex with some of them intermarrying – some say they're similar to the giants from Norse mythology because of this.

Balor, a leader among this race, is possibly the worst of the lot. Gigantic in stature, even among his own kind, he sports a large eye that brings about fiery destruction whenever its lid is opened.

Created on Canson sketch paper using 2B and Prismacolor Ebony pencils.
