Description
my inspirations (the old 1960's painting)[link] and the new print campaign for Bobbi Brown's 'Vintage Hues'. [link]I have done a stage by stage sequence of the build up of this image and will post it if there is any interest in seeing it from raw to this state???
People here don't tend to do this for some reason - when I joined I believed it was a site where we could learn from each other!
If I get a 24 asks in 24 hours I'll post the sequence.

I am not a genious. I am not an art critic. I've always thought that it's better to ask the artist what their creations are about, what did they meant when creating them -instead of going ahead and thinking the work is badly done and what not, just because I don't understand. So please, could you tell me what this technique is about, what effect did you try to achieve, for what purpose?
I'm sorry if these are many questions but I prefer to ask than to remain ignorant. Thanks for your time and thanks for sharing this and making me question my beliefs on what a "fashion" photography is.

I completely agree with you! I don't expect everybody to give away every "secret", but I think learning from each other would be great. I am very thankful to people out there who have shared so far with tutorials and such.
I would love to see the sequence and how you came about with the beautifully finished result.

why is this? check out this months W magazine and see the pics of Penelope Cruz by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott or the Paolo Roversi spread....none sharp.

so because some magazine uses something like it its good?
Either you have strong prescription glasses or you simply don't want to see that the covershot of penelope cruz is crispy sharp and not like the above image where not a single detail is sharp, maybe the lips are a bit proper, but for the rest its unsharp, i bet the original image looks a lot better.
But i understand you simply want comments so you picture ends up in the most popular list.

A personal attack to defend your own opinion is really quite uncalled for. Show a little bit of respect.
If you simply don't like the image or the style, then leave it at that. That's perfectly fine.
What is NOT is trying to impose your preference as superior technique or whatever. Once again...if you don't like it, then great. Many others obviously disagree. Don't pick fights.

mega sharp is good for "paquerettes" not always for people...
I'm betting that the blur is coming from long time exposure and not from photoshop (I hope so 
the overall impression from that picture, for me, is really nice !!

yeah long shutter time on people (they cannot sit still properly) is the obvious cause of this. But personally i would rather have a crispy sharp image, and blur / unfocus things in photoshop. When i went over the image (small preview) it looked good, then when i watched it in detail... i decided to post my penny as your feedback.
For a clothing magazine or something i still do kind of expect the dresss/clothes to be sharp
