I prefer the texture, it gives emphasis to the overall bizarreness of the image. I love the angle, the framing and the whole composition in general. I like how the gate is open, suggesting the path, history, of the girl coming in to feed the chicks with the grain from her bag. The way the bag matches her outfit suggests that she has a relationship with the birds, like this is a routine for her...
The whole thing works for me.

Yeah, I suppose you see the image completely different from me, cos you were there and involved in the whole set up. Knowing the model probably gives it a different slant too.

I really dig the tonal treatment here... but, with respect, the texture is pushing too far into the obvious. Humble opinion.
