Well I always do this kind of work in PS. You open a photo in PS and you duplicate the layer. You turn one layer in BW and keep one photo in color. On the upper layer you hold the ALT button (I think it's Cmd on Apple) and click the [O] button on the bottom of your layers menu. This is a layer mask and you see in your layers menu that next to the thumbnail, there is a black block (That's the mask). Choose the brush tool and the WHITE color next and paint the parts you want to pass through from one layer to the other.It MIGHT sound complex if you're not familiar with it, but just do the steps and it should make instant sense
