Description
Down the long, long road he went
Through the poppy fields brushed in gold
I’ve come a long way
I’ve come a long way
He said, from the mountains so high
The rivers so deep
I’ve come a long way.

There, right here in velvet red
The question on these lips
They are mine, they are mine,
I have carried it all the way
And such a long way it’s been.

I am seeking a house but not a home
I’ve been making someone wait
Whom might I
never be known
‘Tis the question
The question I’ve carried
For such a time
For the long long road.

I must go, alas
I’ve come a long way
So quick and rapt
Unfulfilled
I am still a long way –
There is longing over the
Horizon.

Appoint to me
The way to sanctuary
Forgive me, he said
I must be away from cemetery
My mind so heavy burdened
With the ghosts of graves
And the graves of ghosts.

I’ve come a long, long way
Down the long, long road I’ve come

I’ve been making myself wait
I’ve come a long, long way
I must go still,
A long, long way
Await.

I like the flow and use of repetition.
