My internet at home is hosed up, so this may be the last comment I leave for the year, before heading home for the long weekend... But I just can't end the year without responding to this.
I hadn't seen it until Tuesday, and it just took over my mind for hours afterward. I really had to figure out why this seemed to me among your most stunning works ever...
I mean, duh, she's among your most gorgeous-ever "heroines." She's lovely, uncannily realistic, flawlessly -posed. I haven't used Poser 4 before - does it make it particularly easy to get such a fabulous arch in the back as this? Is there anything so quite as sexy as an arch in back like this? And then that whole contour from there around her butt to the leg is just awesome droolworthy...
There's a nifty bit there at her bust, where the "real" contour is evident enough, but almost seems to vanish away when our eye looks elsewhere, so that an illusory contour of a naked breast seems to appear. I always find tricks like that help make an image more mesmerizing. (I've got one of those in one of my images too, one of my very most popular, but I don't think anyone's ever registered that subtle touch, because when you look straight at it, it "vanishes" into a contour that makes sense.)
Nifty subtle touches are wonderful here. On first glance, one is particularly aware of the flowers, but then they seem to "suddenly" turn up everywhere, and keep turning up. I love the flowered curtains for that reason, and the single flower in her hair that ultimately unifies them all. (My favorite, though, are the lower right ones out of the gutter - I find them particularly hallucinogenic.) I got a huge kick out of the claws of the gloves too!
But still, the overwhelming impression on me has not been explained. You almost always have this fine balance of strong compositional first impression with further layers of subtlety. And, strangely enough, this would be your most monochromatic image to date? You're usually so deeply invested in color, and yet this one doesn't miss a beat for the lack of it. (Does wonders for the rustic mood of the image, surely.)
So here's the neat thing, I wasn't even looking at it when I finally figured it out. (It made such a strong impression on me that I didn't have to be looking at it.) The thing that really floors me about this, as such a dramatic contrast to your precedent of work, is the amazing substance of it.
As opposed to atmospheric forests that drift away into infinity, ethereal settings of indefinite boundaries, scintillations of light and magic, this is among the most concrete (no pun intended) works you've ever done, and it's all the more mighty precisely because of that. Besides being perfect, it's rock-solid.
And yet, the element of fantasy remains, all the more profoundly. What magic is she leading us to, behind that door?
Your image makes me wish I could find out.
An all-time stunner from you, dear. You know I'd point out any nitpick quibble I could find, but I can't. And the sum is even greater than its parts.

Such a beautiful render. The toning is excellent, and perfectly compliments the atmosphere.

I like how this looks half realistic and half painted. I even think it was a wise choice not to use colours here. The only thing I don't like are the high heels...

Wow. Serious chops here. Classic looks, almost bordering illustration. Great textures, great feeling of depth, which is normally lacking in Poser originated images.
