Description Figured I should catch up on posting older photos before putting up recent ones. Here's another one of my Marisa, this time from the fall cosplay gathering in High Park.

Thank you!

It was mostly made by a friend while I was working on the rest of the costume. Copy-pasting from a different account of mine:

It was based partially off of a pattern (Simplicity 4136 - the witch hat part of it), just to figure out dimensions and how my friend and I would put it together. The pattern pieces basically look like a cone shape and a big donut with a hole in the centre that should fit your head.

The brim was made of a few layers of bristol board and craft foam to keep it stiff, with stiff but bendable wire around the outside perimeter of the brim, stapled in place. The top part was a partial cone shape with some smaller cylindrical or cone-shaped pieces staggered to create the bent part at the top, and taped in place. These were all made of bristol board.

The brim and cone were sewn using the pattern pieces from that Simplicity pattern mentioned above, and slid over the bristol/craft foam parts of the hat. To eliminate a lot of handsewing, my friend machine-stitched the outer perimeter of the brim section and managed to fold the brim part a little to get it inside that section, I think. This way I would only have raw edges on the inside of the circle, which would be covered by the white "ribbon" later. I handstitched the top of the brim to the brim through the fabric sections, just to keep it all together.

That's how the basic shape was achieved. You can bend the hat any way you like because of the wire brim
