Yeah, seriously. I've seen a lot of people who are like, light RE fans like Ada, but it seems like there's this notion that to be a hardcore fan you need to dislike her. What is that about? D<

Yeah, it's totally ridiculous. Most of the younger
RE fans just hate on her because they want Leon with
Claire, Angela, Manuela, or Ashley. Don't get me wrong,
crack pairings are cool and all... But, what is the point
in all this idiotic hatred. Most of them don't even take
the time to find out what her character is actually
like *cough*play Separate Ways*cough*. They think she's
some backstabber who tried to kill Leon. Pssh! She saved
his ass how many times? And, Ada's also one of the smartest
characters in the series. Also, when Leon GAVE her
the Plagas sample. I mean, he could have pulled a little
fiasco like he did in the castle when they first met, but
he practically gave it to her! And everyone was saying she
was going to kill him there if he didn't. Sheesh. I thought
he was some badass government agent.
I think a lot of people dislike her just to fit in with all
the hardcore, popular RE fans who hate her. Seriously, I
have really started to think that and it's sad.
I have to say that I like all the RE characters... even
Angela and Ashley. They are obviously far from my favorites,
but they are still a part of the story... Despite the fact that
Angela wasn't even supposed to be in the story to begin with.
She was just put there for sex appeal and for something new to
stare at.

Yeah, I totally agree. A lot of kids who hate Ada just seem to be Leon fangirls that are biased because they like ClairexLeon or have only seen Degeration and like Angela or something. Personally, I don't ship Leon with anyone at all, but in my opinion, the only LIKELY pairings are AdaxLeon or ClairexLeon. They're the only ones I agree with. Angela, Manuela, and Ashley are all just crack pairings. I hope the people that ship those pairings are aware of that.
It kind of makes me sad when people favor Ashley of all people over Ada. I agree, yeah, she's part of the story (personally, I really dislike her, >_>) but my personal opinions aside, she was there for a purpose.
But when people think she's better for Leon than Ada, or just a better character in general? WHAT?! Seriously? Ashley, who has been in one game, didn't have any more depth than being a damsel in distress/president's daughter, and couldn't really take care of herself without Leon's help is better than ADA WONG, who's intelligent, mature, not just a college student, and very strong.
People. They make me mad. D<

I have to agree with you on those counts,
though Claire and Leon seem more like badass
siblings to me. I mean--if Chris weren't around,
they'd practically be like family.

as well. I find the couple to be cute enough, but
Ada is the only woman that CRAPCOM has ever really
shown to have sexual tension between Leon.
Angela wasn't even supposed to be in the storyline
to begin with. Don't get me wrong, her character is fine
and all... but I'm with you. Anyone who ships them together
should understand that they are a crack pairing because
CRAPCOM isn't going to bring her into the mix again. There
was too much negative feedback about the movie.
A lot of people don't like Ashley and I can totally understand.
I wouldn't pick Ashley over Ada or Claire any day, but she played
her part in the storyline. Honestly, two of the most developed
characters are Claire Redfield and Ada Wong. I can relate to
them the most because their characters have more depth than any
of the other female characters. I wish they'd worked more on the others. :/

Ah, I see where you're coming from. I guess it's assumption, since Leon is reported to be somewhat goofy with the ladies in his younger years. That's why people see him with Claire. But I do get you, Ada and Leon are one of the only pairings in the whole series with actual evidence!
I was actually going over that in my mind today. xD I'm planning to post anotehr rant in my journal, this time about pairing-fanatic-assholes. But I was thinking, "You, know, technically the only couples that have any flicker of basis at all (in the games, mind you) are WilliamxAnnette (because that's canon) AdaxLeon, possibly one-sided ClairexSteve (depending on how you look at it), and very subtle ChrisxJill." Not saying everyone has to support them, personally the only RE pairing I seriously ship is ChrisxJill, but I'd like for people to see that every other pairing is basically crack.
Yeah, sadly, I think people get WAY too out-of-hand with pride and shit about their OTPs. I mean, I really can't wrap my mind around how people can just outright HATE a character because they get in the way of a pairing. Or, they get so proud that they start believing their OTP is like, SUPER-CANON!!11one and won't accept ANYTHING otherwise.
Yeah, same here. Aside from the very few I didn't really care for, I think all the female RE protagonists are really cool and unique. I got my little sister to watch Degeneration with me just so she could see how awesome Claire is, since my sis isn't too good at games yet. xD But I wanted her to see, "Hey, if you're looking for a role model, try Claire, Ada, Jill, someone like that." They're all brave, smart, strong... what's better?
...Oh wait. I forgot, being brave, smart, and strong makes you a mary sue in some people's eyes.
