Description
Just taking a short break from my weapon drawings, and moving on to share some basic battlefield equipment for the United Sovereignty of Nations. Fittingly, these deployable barriers are most commonly employed by the Shields; the main planetside fighting force of the Sovereignty military. Let's check out the lore a bit:

M-220 Aspis: A fairly rare, though surprisingly iconic shield, the M-220 Aspis is a circular variant on the basic deployable barrier design. Essentially identical in purpose and usage to the M-500 Aegis, the Aspis is only different in a few small ways, beyond its shape. For one, this shield is somewhat lighter and covers over a smaller area; the diameter of the shield is 76 centimeters in each direction, with the energetic barrier extending about 14 centimeters past that. However, the Aspis also deploys faster and has a moderately more resilient energetic barrier. Somewhat conversely, this shield’s secondary mode can extend the energetic barrier over three times its default size, with a slight additional curve that protects the user from the sides as well; this significantly weakens the barrier’s ability to absorb damage, but can be useful for negating shrapnel and concussive attacks. All in all, it usually comes down to a soldier’s preference as both the Aspis and Aegis have their strengths and weaknesses. These shields are most commonly associated with certain special forces groups, like the Copper Guard of Perseus and the Olympians of Fortis.
