Description This river ain't big enough for the both of them.

Having a writer's block is not easy nor fun. Haven't been very productive lately. Then all of a sudden earlier today I find myself wanting to draw something. Picked up the brush, made a few strokes, got bored and put it back down. Played some game, but it kept telling me "pick up that pen, you sorry sack of not-flying ponyfeathers" and so I did. A few hours laters this was made. Steven Magnet is awesome.

I did draw something small some days ago, trying to ignite the "artistic flame" again. Only got halfways, or something. Sta.sh link

I heard America went with 911 because it's less likely to be dialed accidently.

phelpysan In reply to Rixlan [2013-04-06 19:57:21 +0000 UTC]

I know in the UK 112 is used for non-emergency situations where you want help but he's Swedish, so I don't know. Maybe 112 is their version of 911.

WarioSuperstar In reply to phelpysan [2013-04-11 22:14:21 +0000 UTC]

In almost all countries of Europe (including the UK, alongside 999), 112 is the number for real emergencies. If 112 is dialed on a mobile phone in the US, you'll get redirected to 911.

Europe went with 112 because it can be dialed very quickly (especially on those old telephones with a rotary dial). It's also uses two digits, to reduce the accidental calls.

I'm pretty sure 112 is not for 999-level emergencies (in the UK at least)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WarioSuperstar In reply to phelpysan [2013-04-13 00:49:11 +0000 UTC]

I don't live in the UK, but I was always thought in my English lessons that 112 was the emergency number in the UK. In checked it on the internet in this is what I found:

999 is the national emergency number in the UK, but 112 is the European emergency number. If 112 is called, the call will be routed to 999-operators. So practically, there the same number.

Also according to the source, only 13% of the UKers know they can call 112 everywhere in the EU.

Well I live in the UK and if I needed an emergency service I'd call 999.

WarioSuperstar In reply to phelpysan [2013-04-13 19:38:36 +0000 UTC]

999 is the most famous number in the UK, so of course you would call that number. I think 999 is longer in use than 112, so that's probably why most UKers stick with 999. It's the number they know best.
