Description Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender

I know it sucks. Because it's pastels, that refused to write from time to time on my paper. It's the worst thing to draw with. (Or it's just mine pastels suck) I bought pastels because of my endless curiosity. It's my firs ever experience with pastels.

Poor Zuko, I didn't want him to look that bad here.

It was watercolor paper and I guess it didn't fit right - actually here you can buy only watercolor and normal paper and back then I've run out of normal paper that's why I used watercolor (and I thought that would be better because it's more textured) I was disappointed because the pastels 'refused' to leave any trace on the paper unless I was using very hard pressure, much harder that usually (and usually I press on pencils quite hard). Maybe the quality of paper of that brand wasn't good - because I usually use other brand (and I dislike that one even with watercolor). The only thing I can say that if you use dry pastels it's better not to use very 'soft' or 'slick' or 'oily' paper, and I think that thick paper is better because you'll have to spray some water to fix the color from falling off (at least it's written on the pack of my pastels).

oooh! Ok...so I can use that paper for charcoal. right? I think that is thick enough. And I can find it easily in this little nowhere >_> (sorry! I live in B.C.S )
Because the normal paper doesn't work that well.
Thanks for the advice... water! and...uuh...my little box of pastels came with no instructions =__= so...that's why Im looking here for some help ^^

Eeeeeeee! Zuko's one of my favourite characters!
I think the texture and colours on this are really fantastic- it kind of gives it a sort of homely portrait look you wouldn't usually associate with the character. Great job!

Aww! Thank you so much! I'm happy you like it especially because I was thinking I ruined the picture - pastels are hard to draw - and it was my very 1st experience with pastels! And yep, Zuko is also one of my favorite characters! And I bet he should have a homemade portrait somewhere, even Ozai had his childhood portrait

Thank you... though I'm disappointed with the picture. It was hard to draw with pastels - they refused to leave any trace on the paper - just slided!!!

Yep! Thanks! It was hard to draw with pastels... 'cause it refused to draw... i'm not sure was it because of the paper or because of the pastels though.

we must go slowly with the materials to color,
but it is better to do with photoshop is beautiful dirty fingers!

Спасибо!!! Я замучалась его рисовать, т.к. пастель отказывалась ложиться на бумагу - просто проскальзывала и все! Как жизнь, между прочим??? Ты здесь нечасто последнее время!

Да, грязновато вышло...
Я тож купила себе пастель.. тоже хотела её опробовать - но пока случая удобного не представилось >.<
Хотя на фон я её юзала несколько раз...
Для первого раза весьма неплохо ^^

Некоторые цвета просто отказывались ложится на бумагу - проскальзывает и все... меня это достало... очень-очень сильно. Ты какими пользовалась, всмысле марка и тип???

А у меня какие-то Русские марки \"Спектр\" - других по всей области просто нет. И мягкие или твердые - даже не подписано. Написано, что сухие...
У меня 54 цвета, но половина из них какие-то светло бежевые и светло желтые, только один чем-то напоминающий коричневый, один черный, один, чем-то напоминающий красный. В наборах с меньшим количеством цветов не было синих вощбще, а здесь все, кроме 1 какие-то бледно голубые, тоько 1 - ярко синий - и опять не пишет. Кошмар какой-то, короче. У нас, наверное, только акварель делать умеют, ну и акрилка, вроде нормальная...
Твои тебе понравились? Ложаться нормально на бумагу???

Не то чтобы не понравились - просто пока нет смысла юзать... они как мелочки - ложацо мягко-плавно-не знаю еще какие эпитеты подобрать... единственно что - нужно что-то не слильно детализированное... - я ими всю тетрадку изрисовала... у меня вроде бы все яркие -- особенно розовые О_о

Значит у меня такие - т.к. у меня нажим вроде бы и не слабый, а цвет не получаетя. Розовых у меня тоже много... таких светлых... а нормального красного - нет... он какой-то бордовый
