This shows a definite developing skill with pastels. you have retained your ability to draw things in correct proportions with a medium that many people find difficult to use for things that require the level of detail you have put into this. I especially like the way you have developed the fur itself, and really made it stand out, and given the picture a bit of life by making it look as if the fur is being pulled by a breeze. Did you by any chance achieve that by using a brush or similar implement to draw the excess pastel out, and blend it in order to make the fur look more natural?
I also like the way that you kept the background relatively simple, as it doesn't draw attention away from the main focus of the piece

why thank you! this was more a surprise for me as I'm not really that good at animals but I had fun with this one ^^ and for the blending I used, I don't know the real name for it, but a smudgy stick and my figure the oil on your hands help blend more evenly then anything else but on some drawings I will use a brush depends on if I want it to look airier or not

and thank you the background was an after thought. I didn't want to leave it blank and I didn't want just a solid color so I'm very glad you like it

and thank you so much for taking the time to really look at it I'm so glad you like it

Well chances are, it came out so well because you were having fun with it! its often that when drawing an image it's much easier to get it right when you're happy about it. I suppose that'll be because it leaves you with a clearer head.
I think it is literally called a smudge stick Haha yeah most people use their hands to blend, i just wandered as the blending in many places seems to have a very convincing "Wispy" effect to it.
Well for an afterthought you've done a good job with it. I thought the fact it is slightly "Out of focus" and simple was a purposeful addition rather than a side effect of an afterthought, so kudos to yeh mate

Bah dont have to thank me for that, after all thats what this site is really about, and you know me well enough to know that if i comment on something i put the time and effort in to make it worthwhile for the artist, otherwise i just dont see the point

yeah that's usually how it works or if you're over whelmed by certain emotions and just don't think about anything other then get that emotion out...so basically don't think about it just do it
haha I asked my brother because it bother me that I didn't know they're actually called stubs I like smudgy stick better and the "wispy" effect would be from the smudgy ^^
yay! I love when things just work out

well it's still very kind of you

Exactly mate! Once you start just cracking on with something it always ends up easier than perceived at first.
Oooh, i've never heard of that before. Always called them smudge sticks before, and most people seemed to know what i were on about, so i suppose it dont really matter all that much ^^.
Haha it is nice aint it
Kind? bah hardly, it's what should be done is all!

That it certainly is!
And as are all women truly just little girls. There's no such thing as "Growing up" in my opinion. Perhaps unless you mean maturing, which is simply being able to tell when you need to act in a childish or adultish way, and then applying that wisdom. Simples! haha

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

angrboda555 In reply to Trampandwolf [2013-07-04 03:08:48 +0000 UTC]

haha that's pretty much it! there's no fun in being a grown up all the time but yet we really can't say we're truly act like children we have matured to a curtain point to where we can't find the same child like wonderment in things

Trampandwolf In reply to angrboda555 [2013-07-05 02:36:27 +0000 UTC]

Well in that case, speak for yourself my dear! when the time arises, i can quite happily throw small children off a bouncy castle in order to have my own fun with it! (I wouldnt really do that, but the principal still applies haha) But i do see what you mean, it is less and less as the years go on, that my imagination seems to become more stiff. Almost as if it becomes solid through gaining hard lessons and so on.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

angrboda555 In reply to Trampandwolf [2013-07-05 03:19:57 +0000 UTC]

The one where i'm bigger and take up a lot more space on the bouncy castle? I dunno, i was mainly just blabbergahsting! but you get the point...well no you probably dont, but nevermind, i'm sure it'll strike you like a bolt of light one day!
Thats true, but saying that, giving yourself a knock on the old noggin could help you forget things and make them new again

haha well you have to go under the great stone bridge find the troll name billy but not the one named bill that get you into a whole different kind of trouble...umm oh yeah you'll answer 3 riddles without hesitation this with lead you to the next location you'll walk deep into the forest where you'll meant a band of gypsies who will offer you wine but if you're smart you'll just take the water. why? you ask well if you take wine they'll let you spend the night but if you take water they'll let you travel with them and they're going to the wise woman in the north. so you travel with them learn their ways and became family then they will take you to the wise woman. she's old and smells but you smile and flatter her until she takes you to the back she distracts you with something shiny then hits you over the head you black out for a bit but when you wake your belly feels weird so you look and find there is nothing different but when you rub it your luck has improved immensely Β  Β  Β

Trampandwolf In reply to angrboda555 [2013-07-23 06:10:15 +0000 UTC]

Well, thats a pretty epic story! but it sounds like an awful lot of effort....plus, you have to hang out and become family with Gypsies, i dunno what sort of seemingly spiritual and loving name they seem to have made for themselves over in your land, but over here, they are not well liked and for good reason too i'm afraid.
I mean the old woman tricks you, knocks you out to give you something good! kinda suspicious dontcha think? Hhmmmmmm

But having a belly that you could rub to become lucky doesnt sound pretty cool......
So what sort of trouble might you get into with Bill the troll then? D:

you where suppose to find this out for your self but I'll let you in on it they're not really gypsies but creature from the otherworld dressed like the lowest form to see if you'd still treat them with respect, you see?Β

and you can't see how she gives luckyΒ bellybuttons! then you can do it and then there is nothing special about it! Β

it is cool

oh you'll end up in the eye of blind man who's drowning in a river of flames haha ^^ Β Β

Oh well thankyou for sharing the secret! now i know not to chase after them with fire brands, yelling "I F'kin hate pikeys! Gimme back my bloody bike!" haha!
Well, in that case i shall make it my lifes goal to see how the old lady does it, then i shall rid this and the otherworld of her and become the belly master myself!
Oh....well that sounds like it could be at least interesting? Certainly an experience you wouldn't forget any time soon! haha

Well in that case prepare to be impressed because i shalt be the next belly woman!
No nor am i. Although a good house fire, or open fire out in a field somewhere is always nice. Hot weather however...forget it!

haha the new belly woman? that going to take some work, love ^^

oh yeah I hate summer, way to hot! I'm a winter fall person Β

Trampandwolf In reply to angrboda555 [2013-08-01 20:42:57 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's alright though because i got it back! eventually.

Nah, i'll slap on some make up, maybe a nice dress, and some heels...i shall be the eppitomy of "Pretty woman", then i shall grow fat and old and haggard and ugly, and rub my belly much, as well as eating gypsy dog steaks. I shall be the belly lady in no time!

Mmh, spring and autumn are probably the best. Not too hot not too cold. However i do quite enjoy the winter in its deepest stages. But i think i would get bored if winter lasted too long. It is nice to see life come back into the earth when spring and summer comes around. It's just a shame about the heat is all.

haha sounds like you got it all planed out

autumn is nice but doesn't last long here same with spring but I do like to see the changes with both seasonsΒ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Trampandwolf In reply to angrboda555 [2013-08-10 02:22:30 +0000 UTC]

I took it back.....

Hmmm no, i don't abide by plan making...or if i do, then its a go with the flow plan.......in fact yes...thats what i'll do, GO WITH THE FLOW! i can drowns her!

MMhh the changes are nice, but theyre also good seasons because they're generally quite mild, and in the middle, and pretty perfect for the sustainment of life. etc etc.
