Here's an explanation from my boyfriend
Context: In this universe, toon’s souls are reels that have their life recorded on them. if they have a star on it, it means they’re destined for hell; a reel halo means they’re going to heaven.
This scene is bunster removing his soul to hide it because he’s been making witty deals with demons and has a rolling list of people he owes a soul, so now the fuck needs to hide it cause he got in DEEP
