my roommate and I have been getting back into the old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon from the 80's. We share a love for Eric the smart-ass cavalier, and a disdain for Hank and his Bow of Deux Ex Machina.I await the episode where Eric hauls off and starts wailing on somebody for always making fun of him when his suggestions ARE ALWAYS THE SMARTEST. "Hey, guys, so, we have this horrible giant dragon chasing us, WHY THE HELL are we releasing ANOTHER F*CKING DRAGON?!" "Do YOU have a better idea?" "YES. WE RUN THE F*CK AWAY. WHY DON'T WE EVER RUN THE F*CK AWAY?"

My friend was actually talking about this very fact just the other day. He said. "When I was a kid I always disliked Eric for being a coward, but now that I'm an adult... I find that he's actually the smartest one of them all!"

RIGHT? I didn't watch it very much as a kid but a few years ago a roommate got the boxed set, we marathoned that shit and couldn't believe how fucking dumb everyone was. I found a script for the final episode that didn't get made, Hank and Eric get in a huge fight and the group splits in half, it was epic.

Oddly enough, I just finished watching an episode where they were a step away from going back home and had to turn back to save the DungeonMaster...y'know, the guy who keeps putting them in horrible dangeous positions...and the whole time Eric is telling them to forget the frickin' DM and get the heck back home! They were so close...SO freakin' CLOSE! If they would've listened to Eric they could've been home! But NOOOOO let's go save the DM instead.....idiots. Anywho, rant aside, I frickin' LOVE this! Great job on it

Eric does not understand the fundamental underpinnings of the Dungeons and Dragons universe.
Namely that it's sole purpose is to turn children to the ways of murder-suicide satanists. RUNNING AWAY FROM DRAGONS AND OTHER PERIL IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO GET YOURSELF KILLED.

Great picture. I remember reading once that Mark Evanier wrote that he actually didn't like Eric, but was forced to include him in the cartoon by a parent group trying to push being pro social onto kids. Meaning that you always have to agree with the group cos being different and having your own opinion is wrong. That's why Eric always ended up looking like an ass.
