How had they managed without him?

How could they have all been so blind?

He was so clever. So wise, so refined, so precise…

So powerful.

What King before him could have done what he had? Considered to even try what he had tried? Now their former enemy was sided with them, protecting them! For generations the hyenas had contested the Pride, antagonized everyone and everything, and this brave, magnificent soul has those drooling mutts cowed and controlled by the dozens with mere words! The Kingdom had never been safer. No other lion or beast would dare threaten their peace again. What were a few missed meals, when they were so secure in return?

What did Sarabi know? When did she ever need to think, trailing after that big brute the time? For all she knew it was only a matter of time before he changed his mind and turned away from her… Turned on them. Like that overgrown beast could ever achieve as much as his brother had, as if he had the brains to start with!

And that reckless boy always wandering off to places far too dangerous for any cub to be… Was once not enough? Small wonder he and his father were dead. Idiots.

But His Majesty was different. He never bothered his subjects, always gave them their space. Always thinking, secluded away on His throne. How hard it must be, to always be compared to those who had stood before Him. To be judged by something so beyond His control… Weakness of the body meant nothing compared to a mind so sharp. And hadn’t His Majesty been right so many, many times?

‘Circle’ this and ‘Circle’ that. What did that even mean? Life went on and on and on and that was it. What had Mufasa really done? Even for all his great strength he had been so weak! Roaming around the Rock, always calling back to the past. While his ignored, outcast brother had gone past the Pride’s boundaries and rules and far beyond. Saw how things could be, saw the future and made it so!

It would all just be a matter of time. The rains would come back, as they always did. And the water would flow again as it always did. He said it would happen and so it would be.

Until then, let the aging Queen and her faithless bitches moan and grumble. They’ll all see. They’ll pay in pain if He desired it.

All alone in that gloomy cave, in the shadows of His lineage… Always in the shadow of that oaf. How lonely it must be…

But He needn’t be so alone...

If He needed eyes and ears where He was not, she would see and hear for Him.

If He needed the adoration he deserved, she would praise Him.

If He needed an heir… she was at His command.

He would need her.

He needed her.

And she would be there. For Him.

My King…

I will always be here.

Oh Zira! You and your obsessive fangirling!

My own personal theory is that Zira and at least some of the Outlander lionesses were originally members of the Pride Lands from the very beginning, but were swayed into believing Scar was a superior king because of his ability to keep the hyenas under control, and due his own charisma. And Zira, naturally, fell the hardest.

After all, Scar may be one of the most despicable villains in Disney Canon, but we all still love him for it. He’s just so dang charming! XD

I’m probably wrong, but I think it’s interesting!

I also like leaving it ambiguous to whether any of Zira’s children are Scar’s at all.
Nuka and Vitani are both a big ‘maybe’, but Zira’s pretty crazy, so I doubt it really matters. <<;
