Background:

Personality: Elspeth’s beauty disguises a stern personality and extensive training. There are many who have made the mistake of assuming that her unusual beauty for "softness". There is nothing "soft" about her. She has ruthlessness equal to Wolverine's or Magneto's when provoked. She has very little patience for stupidity or incompetence. She prefers to use strategy, reason and logic in and out of combat. She will also exercise restraint, preferring subtlety over flamboyance, whenever possible. Elle has studied Eastern and Western philosophy and considers the consequences of her actions and choices carefully—though she is not afraid to act when she must.

She is an extremely private person and very intelligent. She doesn't share her feelings or motivations easily, as she doesn't feel that it's anyone else's business. She is honest and frank, but manages to maintain a veneer of civility most of the time. She sometimes seems aloof, even with family or friends, but once she becomes close to someone, she is fiercely loyal friend. However, if her trust is betrayed, Elle can be a most formidable foe who willing and able to use everything she knows about a person in her effort to right wrongs and see that justice is done.

Elspeth is aware of her sidereal 'sister’s' existence and what opinions she has, she keeps to herself regarding the matter.

Quirks: Elspeth truly loathes most of the childish diminutives of Elisabeth and will not answer to them.

Elle has rarely met a Scotch she doesn’t like. She also enjoys white wines and will choose a Martini or White Russian over any other mixed drinks.

Elle definitely prefers subtlety and stealth to overt displays of might, though she can appreciate a good distraction and take advantage of it quite nicely, thank you!

Common Sense—which is seemingly quite uncommon. Elle is blessed with it.

Curses in Klingonese. It’s a good language for expressing one’s displeasure.

Quotes: “Yes, that’s my name…kindly don’t mutilate it, as I’m rather fond of it…” (Oft to anyone who mistakenly calls her anything but her full name…)

“If I hear “My psychic knife is the focused totality of my telepathy…” uttered one more time, I’m going t’show you what the focused totality of my telepathy really feels like…” (Said to Betsy-616 when working with the Exiles)

“Of course I'm a threat. Why..did you think for a moment, that I wasn't?”

“The games are immaterial. What really matters are the stakes.”

“I love it when highly religious fundamentalists tell me that I'm going t’hell. I always reply with enthusiasm, "Great! We can carpool!" That really does ruffle their feathers!”

Hobbies: Playing piano, composing/remixing music. Practicing Tai Chi, dancing. Chess. Origami. Elspeth enjoys flight under her own power. Also enjoys tinkering.

Other specialized Equipment:

Personal Tallus: Cl 1000 Material.
--Teleportation/Gateway: CL1000 ability to Elle and the other members of Exiles to teleport through reality, space and time once a mission is over. The “Home point” is always the Panoptichron/Starlight Citadel.
--Communication/Instruction: The Tallus serves as a commlink between Elle and the Panoptichron (and Sage), it can cross dimensions, time and into different sidereals. This provides a CL1000 link to the Panoptichron and Sage (of Earth-616 who has ‘bonded’ to the Panoptichron, as well).
--Bond: Elle’s Tallus cannot be removed; it is permanently bonded with her on a physical, psychic and mystical level.
--Internal Limbo or “flatspace” storage: allowing Elle to carry useful items or equipment that won’t fit in her ‘bag of tricks’ or are conveniently stored within its confines.

Integrated Motherbox: Motherboxes are the free-thinking, living supercomputers once employed by the New Gods of New Genesis. Because a Motherbox has the Leadership talent, she can automatically transfer her Karma to her user. In addition, through the user's affection for Mother Box, the user can transfer Karma back to her. To do so, the user must make a Psyche FEAT. roll vs. Ex intensity. Only one such attempt is allowed per day. As a sentient device, Elle communicates with Vivienne (the name she bestowed upon the Motherbox that adopted her) telepathically or she may open up an interactive holographic interface visible to others, or as a HUD, only perceptible to Elle’s psibernetic eyes.

R: In P: Ex Karma: 100 Special: Leadership

Known Powers:
-Firewall/Psi-screen: up to SH-X ability to resist attempts at all types of mundane, metahuman or cyberpathic hacking. A Motherbox is alien technology, with alien/ultratech coding and not easily deciphered by all but the most technologically adept.
-Danger Sense: Am
-Detect Life: Ex
-OmniPower/Power Duplication: Am
-Total Memory & Omni-knowledge: As a highly advanced supercomputer, a Motherbox may presumably use any scientific or knowledge Talents at her Reason rank.
Limitations: Spiritual Worthiness: A user must be spiritually worthy (no negative popularity) to use a Motherbox.
Boomtubes: There is no “X-Element” available, so the Motherbox is unable to open Boomtubes as a means of transportation.

History: Elisabeth Braddock was the daughter of Sir James Braddock, PhD, an English baron, who was once a denizen of Otherworld, an otherdimensional realm at the heart of Celtic myth. A being who called himself Merlyn (but who may not actually be the wizard of Arthurian legend) sent Braddock to Earth to father the champion who would be known as Britannic. Living in England, Dr. Braddock became one of the United Kingdom's leading research scientists. He found himself married to Lady Elizabeth “Eliza” Destine-Braddock, with a young son named James. They bought a mansion/estate they renamed Braddock Manor. There Dr. Braddock created a highly advanced computer complex called Mastermind (which is not to be confused with the two mutants of the same name).

The Braddocks’ children, the twins, Elisabeth (nicknamed Beth) and Brian inherited genetics from their parents that endowed them with metahuman abilities. The children's abilities, however, remained latent for years. Their elder brother, Jamie, who was some 10-12 years older, had been born to the original/human Sir James (before he went missing in WWII and was replaced with by the Otherworlder). Jamie was seemingly a normal human and later died in an extreme sports/adventure accident.

The Braddocks were ostensibly killed in an explosion in Dr. Braddock's laboratory at Braddock Manor that was caused by the malfunctioning computer Mastermind. Later on, Brian Braddock eventually became the costumed champion known as Captain Britain. Beth developed the psychic abilities and extensive training in computer science, psychology and criminology which she used in the service of S.T.R.I.K.E., a British division of the international law enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D. Beth also developed a highly successful career as a computer forensics & security expert and white hat hacker. She also knew of Brian's double identity, and the siblings took up residence in Braddock Manor.

Members of a British government agency called R.C.X., knowing that Brian Braddock was Captain Britain, attempted to recruit him to work with them. Refusing to be exploited by the government, Brian Braddock gave up the role of Britannic. The R.C.X. agents then persuaded Beth to become the new national heroic icon as Britannia, working with them. Beth used a costume taken from an otherdimensional counterpart of Brian’s, which magnified her physiology and durability to superhuman levels when she wore it and enabled her to fly. Another other-dimensional hero, Captain UK, trained Beth to become a crimefighter, and the two acted as partners on missions together for many months.

Finally, Beth launched her solo career as Britannia, which came to an ignoble end when she went into battle against two of the original Captain Britain's arch foes, the Vixen and Slaymaster. Wearing a battle suit that amplified his own strength to match her brother’s levels, Slaymaster seriously injured and blinded her. Sensing her telepathic cries of agony, Brian Braddock rushed to his twin sister's rescue and fought and killed Slaymaster. Realizing he could not forsake his responsibilities, Brian resumed his role as Britannic and later formed Excalibur—based on the concepts set out in the Avengers charter.

Beth went to Switzerland to recuperate. While there, she was taken in by the other-dimensional patron of her family: the Omniversal Guardain. Roma took care of Beth, using extremely advanced technology and magic. Roma also gave her new, technomagical cybernetic eyes, thereby restoring her sight. Beth returned to Earth and resumed working for SHIELD's Psi-division as Director. Eventually Beth was "rescued" from an arranged situation through the intervention of a team of adolescent mutants affiliated with the Xavier Institute. Having been assigned to observe the Xavier Institute’s activities, Beth chose to remain at the missing Professor Charles Xavier's mansion in Westchester County, New York, which also served as the secret headquarters of the X-Forces. Beth proved her courage to the X-Men by resisting the attack of their enemy Sabretooth, when he broke into the mansion. As a result she was accepted into the ranks of the X-Men, becoming a costumed adventurer once more under the codename Psylocke, partaking in their activities as a more direct observer (and even participant).

She reconnected with Roma when her then-teammates battled the Adversary, and after they chose to sacrifice their lives in an effort that permitted Forge to banish the creature, Roma brought them back to life. They were granted invisibility to technology in pursuit of their goals. Beth was given custody of the Seige Perilous around that timeframe. Beth chose to remain with them when they relocated to the Australian Outback. She befriended the Carol Danvers psyche that Rogue had absorbed as well as Dazzler (with whom she shared some musical interests) and Madelyne Pryor-Summers (with whom she shared the duties regarding the technological systems that the X-forces inherited along with their Outback base).

Psylocke and the rest of her then-teammates came into a situation that was inescapable, and their only recourse was to go through the Seige Perilous once again...though Beth gave them a little telepathic "help" in that regard. Each would be reborn to a "new" life, after they were judged by a much higher power within the interdimensional nexus of the Seige Perilous. Psylocke was captured by the more public face of The Hand, Matsu'o Tsurayaba, after emerging from the Seige Perilous fully amnesiac and completely unaware that she had been split into two beings: The human Psylocke (Beth) and the Otherworldly Psykeye (Elspeth).

Unlike Beth, Elspeth retained the experiences, knowledge and all the powers Beth had once enjoyed as Britannia in addition to her innate psychic abilities, as well as the memories of her past as an espionage agent in service of STRIKE and later SHIELD--as an observer among the X-men—and above all, an agent of Roma, the Omniversal Guardian to whom she felt she owed (and freely gave) her loyalty. She returned home--to Otherworld—staying at the Starlight Citadel with Roma and Saturnyne, learning far more of her father's legacy and history with the Captain Britain Corps.

As Rachel Grey had once learned the hard way (as a member of Excalibur), Elspeth also discovered that telepathy is the standard means of communication in Otherworld. However, she adapted far more easily and continued exposure to a telepathic society expanded and improved her telepathic abilities as well as the knowledge of their use. She underwent further training and education, as well as preparations Roma deemed necessary for what Elspeth would need in the future. She also learned of her half-brother and sister-in-law's murders at the hands of Excalibur’s foes, and of her half-sister’s existence. What her feelings are, in regards to those events remains a mystery.

Elspeth was reunited for a time, with her old friends Linda McQuillan and Alison Double while under Roma’s tutelage. She might lack the brute force Linda had gained as Captain UK, but she was certainly able to hold her own when sparring with Linda, being more agile and far faster. Even though she possessed subsonic flight, she found her superhuman speed to be an advantage, and she soaked up everything Linda could teach her about how to use it all to her advantage. With Alison and her Otherworldly tutors, she worked to further develop her psi-talents in ways that would likely astonish some human/mutant psi-talents.

During her time in Otherworld, Elspeth learned that while many sidereal variants of Elisabeth and Brian had been chosen as the champions of their world (and members of the Captain Britain Corps), she and one or two "unique" results of the Otherworldly Sir James's offspring had been chosen by Roma as her own champions.
For an extended period of time, Elspeth served among the Exiles/CEMA, representing Roma's interests at the Panoptichron. While there, she met a divergent sidereal of her half-sister, who'd broken free of the Hand's brainwashing and Elle was genuinely surprised by the presence of heroic sidereals of several known villains. As sort of Omniversal troubleshooters, Elspeth worked with an eclectic bunch of people, whose mission it was to correct flaws in a particular sidereal's space-time continuum. They met with some successes, and some failures due to circumstances beyond their control.

She learned a great deal during this part of her life, and she had returned to her native Earth-687 and found herself stranded, unable to return to Otherworld. She resumed the public life of Elisabeth Braddock as aristocrat and socialite (and hacker and spy)—but this time around, she knows the stakes are much higher than ever. Elspeth had begun to seek out those whom might be of a like mind, but to no avail. Earth-687 was doomed—literally—by the machinations of a future Dr. Doom and his efforts to take over that particular sidereal for himself. A Motherbox Doom had obtained in another reality found Elle to be more spiritually worthy than Doom (whom had acquired it in less than benevolent means) and merged with her personal Tallus, causing the Tallus to jumpstart and ‘port Elle and a couple of her allies away moments before the entire sidereal unraveled and was ultimately excised from the Omniverse before its contamination could spread.

Elspeth also helped Betsy-616 deal with Slaymaster-1720, whom along with Empress Hydra and Wolverine (the leader of Hydra and her lover) had also escaped the destruction of their reality. This Slaymaster had begun killing the Oriental Betsys and Kwannons on various sidereals, being under the impression that they were the ‘real’ thing from his encounter/battle with Betsy-616. And in spite of Betsy’s advanced training with Vic and Sage within the Panoptichron and later with an alternate Ogun (whom had been the lover/mentor of a Lady Mandarin on an as-yet uncatalogued sidereal), Beth had great difficulty dealing with this Slaymaster—in part from her own past trauma suffered at the hands of his Earth-616 counterpart—and due to her impulsive, action-junkie mentality. Ultimately, Elspeth tracked Beth to Earth, where she’d tried to face off with Slaymaster-1720 and been injured in the battle. The Otherworlder finished off Slaymaster-1720 with a sense of grim satisfaction and justice having finally been served.

More recently, Elle had found herself ‘adopted’ by very clever young refugee from Earth-616, who calls herself Psyche: Phoebe Tyler (born Luna Amaquelin). The teen had helped the CEMA taskforce with matters in a sidereal she’d reached, via devices in the Fantastic Four’s HQ in her native sidereal during the SRA conflicts. Phoebe followed Elle and mimicked the aura of the CEMA team’s various members so that she was ‘picked up’ by the Tallus and transported to the Panoptichron! The girl found a friend in Valeria Richards and took to Morph's cartoony sense of humour right off--though she was just a serious about her academic studies under Tessa as she was about the desire to learn more about her psi-talents from anyone she could get to discuss the finer points with her. Phoebe and Elle have a sort of "Jedi Master/Padawan" meets aunt/neice relationship and are surprisingly close.

Elle has also adopted Charlie (from Earth-0308) as a younger brother, since she and Phoebe discovered him in the deeper reaches of the Astral plane, near the Panoptichron. They were instrumental in helping find him a new body—in the form of Evan James “Jazz” Braddock (the only male sidereal variant of Elisabeth), which makes him a half-brother in body, if not spirit.

** *** **

The Sight-gift: A rare, very comprehensive form of ESP found in Otherworldly women. It oft combines elements of clairvoyance, pre- and postcognition, psychic sensory detection of a variety of phenomenon. Sight-gifted women can also suffer from varying degrees of sensory overload, sometimes resulting in migraines.

The Sight-gift can be carried on the X-chromosome of both men and women. When two carriers produce a daughter, there is a 75% chance she will have the Sight-gift, due to the increased probability of two active X-chromosomes combining.

Among the other traits arising from this combination of genetics has several side-effects, including varying degrees of visual impairment (blindness) and all Sight-gifted women are sterile and completely lacking in maternal instincts. They don’t suffer PMS or the other ‘typical’ inconvenient side effects of female fertility, either.

There are no Sight-gifted men, at least theoretically, but a male with a rare genetic condition, such as XXY Syndrome / Kleinfelter Syndrome can exhibit the Sight-gift, but this is extremely rare.

Other info: Elspeth has been separated from Kwannon (her mortal/human half-sister) for far longer than Kwannon was split from her, given that Elspeth has spent decades in Otherworld, working with the Exiles and on other sidereals where time passed differently than in Earth-687’s sidereal. Before Earth-687’s sidereal was eliminated, it had only been 5-7 years since their separate, from Kwannon’s perspective.

Exiles notes: Elspeth doesn’t get on too well with Betsy-616. She finds the mortal/human breed mutant to be a pitiful shadow of the woman Betsy-616 once was or could have been. And Beth sees in Elspeth, everything she ever wanted to be--but will never be, never can be--and Betsy-616 tries to “compete” with Elspeth and prove she’s just as ‘good’ as the Otherworlder. The sidereal “sisters” have been known to trade barbed remarks and caustic banter with Elspeth usually coming out ahead. And while Elle and Vic/Sabretooth-295 get along, but has no romantic interest in him. He’s a platonic friend, and while she likes him as such, she doesn’t quite “get” Betsy-616’s interest in him, after his Earth-616 counterpart assaulted and nearly killed her on one more than occasion over the years.

Elle genuinely likes Sage-616, and enjoys the cyberpath’s company. They have a great deal in common and seem quite sisterly. They rarely mince words with one another and there is a deep, unspoken understanding between the pair. They have also been known to maintain an ongoing chess game, which they play simply by stating their moves. Both are able to recall their ‘virtual’ chessboard, no matter how long goes between moves. The Otherworlder also remains on good terms with many of the other Exiles, past and present.

** *** ** Flatspace Tech: This form of dimensional compression is used to store objects in a pocket dimension. Simple objects are stored/retrieved and more complex ones systematically deconstructed/ reconstructed in a flow of sparkling lights. A significant number of items can be stored for easy retrieval without burdening the user with either weight or size. The technology mainly takes the form of easily overlooked wristbands, although one-inch scabbards holding 42-inch swords are also seen. Handguns (some with 18-inch swords stored in their six-inch grips with enough room remaining for great amounts of ammunition), and ammunition are also hidden in this manner (the bullets flying from the wristbands into the magazines on command).
The technology is also used to create habitable pocket dimensions, such as the briefcase/backpack used to transport the ten year old Six and the semi trailer with the internal dimensions of a warehouse (containing Garth's research lab and armory). Dimensional compression is the basis of one of the light hearted scenes in the movie. A security scanner checks Violet, saying "Number of weapons found:", pauses shortly as Violet's weapons are displayed, and finishes "many", as it is unable to calculate the exact number.
