Description Ariel from William Shakespeare's The Tempest. This was requested by a friend and she wanted me to draw him/her in a yoga pose (I'm confused with the gender). I have drawn this character before, but it was pretty ugly back then.

Somehow, I feel like a rebel 'coz I kept painting outside the lines xD. I know it's some kinda of a basic rule, but I felt too freakin' lazy staying behind the lines.

Although this work doesn't look finished, my friend liked it anyway. So I'm satisfied with that.

Done it with SAI

Ariel's gender is left purposefully ambiguous...I like that you kept it that way. I believe that Ariel is supposed to be a representation of human emotion and as emotion is genderless...

I'm not sure where the "has sex with everything" that I saw in another post came from, but it's likely NOT accurate.

Thanks . I've never read the Tempest, my friend just described the character. At least her description is accurate after all.

I just say 'Androgynous pansexual spirit' and leave it at that.
I love the colors and gracefulness in this picture.

In some interpretations, Ariel is a dude, and he basically has sex with everyone....... My friend played Ariel in a production, and after our director told us this information, she never looked at her character the same way again.

I guess, I never really thought about it that way. Alot of people just interpret him as a female because having him as a dude and rapping everyone is kinda creepy.
