Hoisting handfulls of thick white fabric to her waist, she clambered out the window and into the street. Her family had paid too much to dirty the dress, but she couldn't afford to change either. Lanna would be back soon to check the fitting, and the maid would be quite cross if she caught Rei in the middle of sneaking out.
Taking a deep breath, she kept the fabric bunched in messy handfulls to keep the expensive fabric from scrapping the cobblestones. Lanna would discover her absence soon; Rei didn't have time to catch her breath, and she hastened down the night street.
