This piece is inspired by the idea behind Transformers:Mosaic ([link] ). The idea is to do one page comics that tell a short story, focusing on one character's inner thoughts in particular. The unwritten rule is that it's usually a side character.

This Spotlight is written and drawn by me, cleaned up and pieced together by Robin, and will be colored by...well, we'll announce that when its done.

The "Fire Daisy", "Superball Daisy", and even the "Raccoon Daisy" outfits are all homages to Shaxbert, who designed them in various pieces of Daisy fan art he's done.

Daisy is a favorite Mario character of mine for several reasons, not the least of which is that I had established a "fanon" personality for her well before her reintroduction in Mario Tennis and Mario Party 3...and low-and-behold, Nintendo coincidentally gave her the personality I'd always imagined! Daisy is a princess, sure, but she's a much more spunky princess. A tomboy, if you will, save for her tendency for still wearing her trademark dress. She's got a lot of personality, and I like that. She's just fun!

This comic has a lot of things I just made up, of course. I make no such claim that these things are official. No no, just glimpses into my imagination and interpretations of the character. Here, we see the unseen adventures of the Princess of Sarasaland. A couple things of note:

The two discussing Daisy in the first panel are Goombella and Bombette of "Paper Mario" 2 and 1, respectively. Mostly they're there because they were short and easy to include in that panel without obscuring Daisy. Plus, I do like them. ^_^

Wart is the antagonist of "Super Mario Bros. 2", and seems to be a being who tries to enact his schemes in the world of dreams. Of course, many in his army, such as Shy Guys and Snifits are also in Bowser's army, so whether Wart is also a subordinate of Bowser, or merely shares many of the same types of troops, is uncertain.

The Shadow Siren Sisters are from "Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door." They are sinister beings who serve the Nightmare Queen. The 3rd sister, Vivian, ends up on the side of good, but her older sisters are still steeped in evil.

Fawful is the faithful servant of Cackletta from "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga." His hilariously detailed monologues have earned him a memorable place in Mario game history. Since both the Nightmare Queen and Cackletta meet their ends at the end of these games, I thought a combining of forces to bring them back would be interesting.

The being they were going to sacrafice is a child from Twilight Town of "PM2:TYD." He is neither frightened of the idea nor particularly thankful of being rescued. That's kinda how the citizens of Twilight Town are...

Finally, we have Rudy the Clown from "Warioland 3." Rudy, or as I believe his real name to be, Rudificus, is a powerful demon bent on breaking into the Mario World one way or another and taking over. He was thwarted by Wario of all people. Here, we see another attempt, and who should stop him but Daisy and the pirate, Captain Syrup (who, incidentally, is also a nemesis of Wario). Must have been a cool fight!

Then we have Daisy in her more recognizable appearances. But it is fun to imagine what goes on that we don't see in the world of Mario and friends...

Final note: "Mario Kart: Double Dash!!" players will catch the joke in the last couple of text boxes. I love Daisy and all, but even I got tired of hearing her announce her name over and over and over and over and over...

She's better about it in "Mario Kart Wii."
