vent sketch of Jael i never uploaded. and yep this was inspired by Shinedown's "45."from May 2016. Jael is my vampire OC.

(And yeeeah references! Honestly hands sort of demand references... sometimes if I can't find a reference that I like enough online (usually finding the exact angle I want is hard), I just grab my husband's arm, put it in position and tell him to hold still for a moment

haha i should make my husband do the same but i never think of it xD i usually just contort my own hand and take a pic and go from there.

Whenever my husband isn't around, I use my own hand as well, but I haven't yet had the genius of taking a picture of it - instead I just contort my left hand while attempting to draw it with my right, and from there I just hope for the best

Oh nooo for fucked up wrists, that certainly gets in the way of looking at good hand poses! Yeah definitely borrow your husband's hand/arm in the future, it makes a big difference!

(Apocalyptica introduced me to Shinedown in 2011 xD sad that despite all the rock music i listened to in the 2000s, i overlooked Shinedown somehow)

Lol my sketches end up so far removed from the actual finished product cos of nitpicking.
And it is easier for me to draw organic lines and curbs so I can understand why you had difficulty with the bottle.

bottles/stemware have never been hard for me to draw so it was seriously puzzling to me at the time xD oh well it was almost 2 years ago.
lol funny how it was the same song for us xD ("Farewell" used in an anime music video in 2005 introduced me to Apocalyptica lol)
