Going to Dracula’s castle (or any castle) is my dream travel, so I’m very interested to comment on this one. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
I think the first apparent great feature of this photo is the main object’s scope, the castle almost perfectly fit the entire image area. I said almost perfect because if you could make just a little more space for the top most cross, then it would be perfect. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> I love the clarity of focus on the castle here but too bad the sky’s detail was not captured so the background seems blank and thus dull. I believe if you could manage to shoot the cloudy sky too in detail the dramatic sense (as an expected aura from this castle) would be more apparent. Because from what I see, it’s obvious that this is ‘just’ a photo taken by a tourist, not so much of a serious photography work, sorry.
If one looks closer, there are actually the smooth grains of snow drops falling, adding beauty to the scene but I’d say with this blank sky it’s not complete. Maybe it’s hard to capture the sky while you’re trying to get the castle focused too but I’ve seen some amazing photographs that succeeded. But then as an amateur photographer myself I’m not sure it can be done with less than a pro camera.
So overall I think this is a nice photo with good object scope, but with the lack of background/sky details and not much other artistic elements to see (like a creative play of focus)it’s not really enough for a photography material. If you want to take it seriously, I’d suggest if you’re capturing an object it’s better to have an additional vision in mind (example: it’s a “majestic castle” etc -> think of how you can capture the whole needed elements, like the clouds’ or fog’s details) not only capturing an interesting object in front of you. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/>
