Description Ok, I don't really like Galadriel. I mean, she's this ancient and most wise being and suddenly she snaps, becomes a lunatic and wants the ring. Even Boromir resisted it more than she did.

But, the woman I love like a second mother thinks she's incredible,so here she is. All for my naneth!

Nicely done,

On Galadriel herself, yes she is wise and ancient and only that and her own inner light keeps her from taking the ring. But she has a checkered past, she defied the Valar in sailing to Middle Earth for one so she is definitely not perfect. The very fact that she is so wise and powerful is what makes the call so strong.

For me at least the fact that she is so strongly tempted and still ovecomes the ring's call is a testament to her growing wisdom. She has learnt humility over the years.

This is a lovely drawing! I especially like her circlet! Also I'm glad I'm not the only one that isn't too fond of Galadriel. She always came across as arrogant to me, even in the later Silmarillion. Regardless, fantastic job!

You're welcome!  Lol, I know that feeling when it comes to this fandom! Galadriel is just....not as cool as she thinks she is. Compared to even the lesser Maiar her powers are nothing. And compared to her Uncle Fingolfin her supposed awesomeness is just not...awesome.

I know, right? I mean, yes, she's badass and all (at least in The Silmarillion), being one of the leaders of the Noldor, but her motives are all wrong. :/

Exactly! I was watching a LOTR video on youtube and their were so many Galadriel fans and I'm just like "..." *ahem* "No." And let's be honest Glorfindel probably had prettier hair than her too.

when did Galadriel ever want the ring??? If there was anyone capable of resisting its call more than Bombadil it was her.

She did want it.Chapter 7,The mirror of Galadriel, from the Fellowship of the Ring. And think about Sam,think about the Fellowship. In my oppinion,if there was anyone less capable of resisting it's call that Boromir, then that was definately Galadriel.

I wasn't too horribly fond of her, either. Yes she's powerful and in a way beautiful, and the scenes in the book with her and Gimli are adorable, but I find her creepy. She like reads minds or something. OO

Yeah, and for some reason I always feel super protective of Boromir in that scene XD He seems to me rather emotionally fragile in the movies and whenever she looks at him I'm just like, "Leave him alone, the poor baby has enough mental problems without you in his head!"

Well I can't really say the same Boromir is a pretty decent dude, but I kind of have a major thing for Aragorn,so most of the time I want to punch Boromir right in the face. She does need to cut it with the telepathetic nonsense though,it isn't exactly helpful to any of the Fellowship. It's just Galadriel showing off her super awesome skills to a bunch of newbies(I bet the Lothlorien elves would have stopped buying that crap at some point).
Aaaaand I got carried away again.Sorry

Ahaha no problem!
Yeah, the first time I watched the movie I thought Boromir was kind of a show-off and a jerk. Aragorn is super cool though Especially when he's Strider and being all cool and mysterious.
And yeah at some point you stop being impressed by Galadriel's telepathy trick. :3

Nice one.

I must object to your description of Galadriel, though. Boromir definitely didn't last longer; also, he did try to attack Frodo and take the ring.
Galadriel, being a powerful and old elf-lady, has had the power of Nenya for about an age already. Dealings with power are not easy, and one who loves power can be easily tempted. Despite that, Galadriel doesn't try to take the ring, nor does she actually take it in the end. She is tempted, yes, but she herself says she's been tempted for years, she dreamed about it. Yet when the time came she refused it, passed the test.

Well, I respect your oppinion, but I still disagree
I don't like power-hungry people.Galadriel could have showed some self control, and not give this little speach about being queen of all Middle Earth. But that's just my view

ninquetari In reply to annoulaki [2012-08-26 07:19:22 +0000 UTC]

I agree she's power hungry - however, that's exactly why I think she did showed a lot of self control when not taking the ring...
We're not going to agree, lol. But that's okay... I respect your view, too.

Her refusal of the ring allowed her to end her exile on Middle Earth, and return to Valinor in the end.

She chose to go to Middle Earth along with Feanor, she wasn't forced. And she didn't actually refused the ring,Frodo just didn't give it to her.
And thanks a lot!!
