Description
This is the first out of two commissions I painted for a client, of her aunt and her mother, who recently passed away. They were close sisters and good friends, and these commissions were made as a gift to her aunt, as a tribute to her mother.

This acrylic painting of them sitting by the sea on a summer day was based on a lovely photo. I wanted to capture the bright sunshine, the clear waters, and the sense of nostalgia that I saw in the photo. I rarely paint figures and skin in acrylics but I had a lot of fun rendering the lights and shadows on their skin. Also the lights on that straw hat.
