how to manage the shades on his face?? how big the paper?

I dunno, I just do it. But I do use tissues to make the shading look softer. It's an A3.

I love how you do the shadows. They make the cheeks look so close to the original cheeks 
But may I give you some suggestions?
I think his upper lip is a little bigger. And his arm is a little lost in the picture after the shoulder, maybe you should try putting it a little lower?
That's just two things, though.
