Description Kopa's favorite trick to perform is a breakspin! Here she is attempting to teach her calf Enzi how to do one.
This was made to go with grayorca 's picture, "Basic Idea"

This pose was chosen specifically to show Kopa's unusual underside markings.
I know I made anatomy mistakes, but this was a really hard pose...I also made mistakes with the platform itself, but considering this is the first time I've ever tried to draw a platform of any kind, I'm happy with the end result. Truth be told, this was more of a quick piece than one I took a ton of time on.

Pose was reffed from a Safari LTD orca calf figure.

'Tis awesome. Mistakes aside, you showed the overall idea pretty well. Unique, too, as I don't think I've seen an orca-related painting encompassing this kind of "watch and learn" idea before.

Thanks so much! =3 Your "Basic Idea" kind of inspired this a bit. Kopa's love for the slideout would no doubt lead to her trying to teach Enzi how to do this. I don't think they typically learn this trick until they're older though? Around 3-5? That's what it seems like with the young ones in Youtube videos.

I thought I recognized that platform.

Makes sense. Even if he wasn't to begin actual training for that for a few years, Kopa would probably try to show him the ropes, giving him a head-start of sorts. We can almost imagine this as happening a moment before "Basic Idea", like, "Okay, now it's your turn!" And that's how Enzi ended up on the slideout, to his dismay.

Of course Had to keep it consistent! You said its based off of the Port of Naifshihdifis in Japan, right? (I have no idea how to smell it, lmao xD;; )

Hehe, sounds about right! x3

Port of Nagoya. Yes. At least in color scheme, I imagine it's similar.

I'm trying to come up with a plausible idea for Enzi and Gunnar now. It'll probably involve seagulls rather than behaviors.

Gotcha~ Do you have a picture in your head specifically what it looks like? Maybe we should have some kind of simple aerial view of their tank, like these [link]

Awww, teaching him now to hunt? =3 Much to the trainers' dismay, I'm sure xD Judging from the reactions of SW trainers on YouTube when their orcas go after a bird, anyway.

This is the best example I can find. Of course, the idea is based on Nagoya, but we can change it around as we see fit. I just like the layout, minus the smaller dolphin pools at the bottom of the picture.

Precisely. If only I could paint human faces, I'd include such an element. As it is, the bird in question will probably just be a bunch of shed feathers. I don't know - we'll see how my attempts to outline a simple seagull go. XD

Aha! Perfect So is that big pool in back the show pool? I see a slideout on it, I think. I may go into MS Paint and try to make an aerial view of Kopa and Gunnar's home. Which dolphin pools would not be there? I cant tell which pool in there is a medical pool. I'm so unfamiliar with PON xD;;

Lmao xDD I know what you mean there. You'd think a sea lion would be easy enough to draw, right? ....Wrong. The sea lion Ano was hunting in that 'Power' picture turned out so bad, that I had to hide most of it with waves...which I guess isn't too unrealistic.

I labeled a few visible features. Whatever aerial view you end up drawing from, I'd suggest taking a broad stroke as to what pools go where. Details like dimensions and function can be worked out later.

There's a small archive of photos here. The show pool does feature a small slideout at the very front: [link] .

Sea lions and other pinnipeds are such a different area of art altogether, I'd be frightened to consider painting one. But we'll see how this bird turns out. If that goes well, maybe it means I should branch out into other related subjects.

Thanks! Mine is a little different so far, but has that basic idea, I think. I'll email it to you once its done, and feel free to tweak it

You drew that parrot so well in that picture with K'nai =3 I'm sure the seagull(s) will turn out fine~ ^-^

Cool.

It took a while to get her to look just right. So many lines in her wings alone! I'm downloading some feather brushes just in case I should need them. For now, I need to block out just what poses and expressions would work best.

Okay, its very simple and basic, but I'm emailing it to you in a sec~

I imagine. Birds are so difficult sometimes...particularly the feathers x___x Good luck~

Received. I like I'll add some more detail (surrounding structures, designated areas, etc.) and e-mail you back when it's ready. ATM, I'm coloring my second portrait of Aves, so it may be a little while.

Thanks.
