Description
They tell us that I.V.Y. is an artificial intelligence built to predict the future, her existence denied by a government who want to keep her power to themselves. Others say that she’s an incredibly talented hacker, so subtle and evasive that none but the topmost experts can detect signs of her passing. And others still say she’s an ancient goddess who has evolved with the times...Whoever or whatever she is—if she even exists—we know someone’s been pulling the strings in this city.
Loosely based on a short story I wrote a few years ago that’s buried somewhere in my gallery. And I really do mean loosely. Not much else to say here, except that I’ve been trying to push my narrative in a direction where it does most of the talking for me.
Oh, and Incan and pre-Incan art is pretty darn cool. The patterns on Ivy's dress are based off of some designs found on Incan artifacts--I wish I'd had the time to incorporate more.

Thanks man! Honestly it's been a really long time since I've written anything so I'm afraid I don't have much in the way of advice. Having a friend familiar with computer science to bounce things off of is always helpful though...!

I love how this picture illsutrates the little text you wrote in the description box. The title, the technological symbols (lacking a better word) flowing out out her fingers like puppet-strings, at the same time forming a city and then going back into the gun of the woman below ... what a fantastic illustration! respect for that! But the whole concept is amazing to be honest. And the characters are pretty well drawn from an artistic side aswell.
A fantastic piece of art that makes you think a bit in any case! Thank you for that!

This is totally sweet, especially the way the circuits form a cityscape. What you said about narrative, is accomplished here. The whole thing is so rich it just begs imagination on the part of the viewer - like, "Here's a glimpse of this world, this story... don't you want to come in?"

waaghh, thanks! I spent way too much time trying to figure out the shading on the legs (recently I discovered that I really like well-drawn legs for some reason), and then I had to rush the rest of it because of the deadline, whoops. Hopefully the rest of it doesn't look too hasty...

ughhh the vertical format, the way the symbols merge into one another, the powerlessness of the figure on the bottom. GOD. This is simply wonderful. IVY even has sort of a mucha-halo going on with the little circuit board circles.

Sometimes I worry about being too heavy-handed with symbolism, buuuut I think it worked in this case (I suppose with a deity-themed contest it was pretty much inevitable).
