Sugreev was the son of Sun God. He was the brother of 'Vaali', the ruler of the Kingdom of Kishkindha. Vaali had enmity with Sugreev and banished him from the kingdom. Sugreev had seen Sita's abduction by Raavan and informed Lord Ram when they met. Sugreev promised Lord Ram to put his entire army in search of Sita if Ram killed Vaali. Ram killed Vaali and Sugreev in return put his entire army of monkeys in search of Sita. Sugreev killed many mighty warriors of Ravan's army like Kumbh, Nikumbh and Mahodara in the final battle at Lanka.
