Description Yesterday was my first time trying waterscape long exposures, once again, a bit cliched, but good fun.
Taken on the Rhein.
Your criticism would be wonderful and I know composition is a bit cluttered...

Artist's self-deprecation aside, the composition presents an air of uncertain stillness. The time lapse of this photo, along with the granularity, enhances this feeling. Naturally being a black and white presentation, the subtle tones of woe seem to float down the Rhine as if the camera caught echoes of moans long ago.

The streak in the upper left-hand corner adds character as well as the motion blur from the floating piece of rubbish (or whatever) near the center.

Finally, the perspective of distance from the shoreline to the moon is quite a powerful thing to contemplate when looking at this: how the moon dictates the motion of the tides, how the Rhine is subservient to math, and makes the piece that much more "still" than time lapsed.

i think you should cut a bit off the black bottom not bad really, but i've been gone for awhile so i dunno how your works have been doing lately. i think i see a moon too. it needs to be brought out more... it's quite pretty but its lost in space

Black border will finish this nicely. The grainy-ness of this gives it a great 1970s film feel.

I'm not sure about the rocks at the bottom. I'd either crop them, or darken them.

Erm... I do apologise for the numerous messages by me on this piece! For some odd reason my mouse kept moving and clicking on the "send" button. Thankfully this issue has been resolved now.

Now let's begin again:

"I saw *binarylime 's critique of this piece appear in my box," is what I got. I wanted to add: "I love this piece, a lot. Congrats."

I really think the big black bit on the upper left would be better cropped, though.

Good variety of contrasts- very little dark black and a lot of greys.

Quite open feeling to this shot, too. I like it.
