Description Finally finished!! ; A ;
I worked on this a few hours a day over the span of a week (not every day, though). I'm so happy I finally finished it!

Ariel is such a fun character to draw. I've never done an underwater scene before so I really enjoyed playing around with the lighting and adding colors everywhere!

I would really appreciate all your feedback/critiques, I tried my newer painting style in it! >o<

You did a great job with the textures and the overall atmosphere of the picture. As the others stated, the style is really neat and suits well with the mermaid theme. The hair with the warm highlights (red) and cool shadows (blue) is also very well done. You should keep doing this trick, it works well on any picture The fish scales are also really great!

There are also a few things you can improve - like the depth of the image. This is acutally really easy to create: you turn down the saturation and the contrast of the things that are further back, like the rocks, the water surface and the yellow ground. This will also bring the focus on the mermaid herself. In general, things that are in front are more saturated and show vibrant colors and things that are in the background are grey-ish, unsaturated and with less contrast. You may also want to work a little on her anatomy - the collarbone is a little too dark. You should also avoid stright black lines to indicate muscles.

But nontheless, you did a good job with the picture and I can tell you invested a lot of work in it. Keep at it, you're definitely on the right path!

Thank you for your critique! I edited a few small things (like the shadows on the arm and collar bone, along with hip bones).
Hopefully it's a little better now haha.

Thank you very much!

This is a beautiful style piece, I especially love how you drew and shaded her hair and the pattern you did on her tail.

My main critique of this is the left side of her seems a bit off in that her left shoulder is non-existent.

*huggles* and *love*
