Description A delightful set of environment commissions I got to do for Rinslettuce ! * v * Designed a whole house, inside and out/// There was lots of learning and experimentation with these as I don't do interiors/interior objects all that often, but now I've come to enjoy them a lot more =//v//=Β

Ahhh tips I can say is to build everything from squares and go from there! Q v Q )b really helps with perspective and scale. Brush-wise, I really love using textured Β brushes for environments; they just have a kind of control that's easier for them for painting that kind of thing? Admittedly my approach to BGs isn't much different from my one for characters so it's tough to think of anything helpful to say, hrk;;;Β

God dammit these scenes are so cute. Top left is my favourite by a huge margin though. The atmosphere is just fantastic. The overgrown roof, the big flower bushes and that fence--I don't know what it is about them but they make me just want to lie down there and take naps for all eternity.

D'aww, thanks!! That one one was very ghibli-inspired--I always get those kinds of feelings from ghibli paintings, so I worked to try and achieve the same in my own *^*)9 glad it came across!///

Thank you so much! : D Ahhh, as far as tips, some things that help me do them at least:
- Work back to front! Do the farthest things first, and then move forward.Β 
- References are your best friend o(--< Always.Β 
- Filling scenes really helps! In means of like... adding lots of extra objects or things just to give the design its own character and personality.
- Something I've learned off of these: if something has straight edges, use straight line tools...! Especially for perfectly vertical lines. It's amazing what big of a difference it makes vs eyeballing it.Β

That does help a lot! I've been wanting to practice backgrounds for a while (cause i want to get into making vns ^^') but i never got around to actually doing it. Now i know how to start, so hopefully soon i can begin drawing them!!
