Description
In Bulgarian Folklore and mythology, a Samodiva (or Samovila) is a kind of a forest nymph. They are known as keepers of forests, lakes, rivers or streams, who dwell in the deep woods and lure young men away. There are many stories of how "ethereal, beautiful maidens" are seen dancing in a ring by a shepherd or man who cannot resist their beauty and joins the dance. The maidens either take him away either to the woods or to the fairy realm, or leave the dance at dawn, leaving the man to die of exhaustion. The places where the Samodivas have danced seem "burnt" or trampled and no grass can ever grow there.
J.K.Rowling also mentions them in the Harry Potter books, where they're called Veelas
