This is an idea I've had for a while. I started painting the pebbles back in March. In the last month I figured out a pose for the orca and finished it.

Oh my goodness, LOVE. I spent the summer researching the northern residents by recording their calls/movements on hydrophones, and many times we heard them rubbing at the rubbing beaches. Lovely, and just how I imagine it! I got to feel one of the pebbles from the beaches, and it was small and smooth, just like the ones you drew.
You should do more stuff with the northern residents.

It absolutely was. I really want to go back. It was a surreal experience to wake up in the middle of the night and hear their vocalizations live from the speakers. You should check the place out - anyone can intern/volunteer there! You just have to pay your way and for some meals. You camp - it was an adventure, for sure.
I got to hear Corky's family the day before I left. It broke my heart.
