Description I've been reading 'The Silmarillion' and I love Feanor's character (need that little symbol thing above the 'e' ) so I decided to draw him. He's not really king of the Silmarils (they're gems, can't really be king of them), but that's how I've been thinking of him.
I found that when people drew him they tended to draw him very majestically and elven and as if there was no evil in him at all, and so I tried to capture the evil streak that essentially messes up Valinor.
In terms of feedback, I was just wondering about shading (although any other advice is very welcome). I used a new technique and wasn't sure where it needed improving. Also if anyone has any tips about clothing (I know it isn't detailed in this or anything) I would appreciate that too. Thank you in advance

You've caught a dark side of Feanor very well, but he should also look more majestic. He was, after all, an Elf-lord, with all the otherworldly beauty that that implies.

Yeah I know, this is really really old when I was just starting out. I actually might give him another shot and see if I can do him justice better! Thank you Ā

I love this! I especially love the expression ā€” one definition of evil is "self-serving to the exclusion of typical moral societal concerns". Faenor was so utterly focused on his ability to create, he never paused to consider the consequences of his actions. You caught it in his expression.

Oh, thank you so much! I'm really glad you got that from it, that's what I wanted

Actually, I'm impressed. The ouline is too blury though. But you've made texture on the clothing, which is not common (from my experience at least). And again, the shading is too blury. I prefer more sharp shadows and highlights. And it could be more contrasting (shading). All in all, I wouldn't be able to create such painting and I'm impressed. Keep it up!Ā

Thank you! I'm glad you like it! It took me roughly five hours, not including the initial sketch, but that only took me few minutes

Your welcome! My drawings usually take me some time. I go through the pre-sketch phase, the outlining phase, and the shading phase Now that I'm adding background to my drawings, it's gonna take me even longer XDĀ

Haha, yeah, I do roughly the same thing and though I've more or less given up on backgrounds for now, I'll change my mind in a week or two

I'm doing backgrounds for my drawings too, but that means it will take me slightly longer to finish them It's my first time too, so it will take some time Ā

Yeah, I've only been doing digital art for a little over a week, so I'm trying to take things in baby steps but unfortunately I'm way too ambitious for that I've decided my next work will have a background so I'll be working on that for about a month... but oh well. It'll be fun.
