Description This is an homage to Claire Keane, who designed many beautiful dresses for Rapunzel, one of them particularly awesome and magical, which, I believe, has amazed and inspired lots of fans, fanartists and artists [link]

Seriously, I really like the movie as it is but... sometimes I wonder which kind of visually-astonishing film this would have been with the Rembrandt-darker style, 2D animation and this dress... Can't help it.

Hope you like it

I really love the green dress you put her in. It's simple yet just grows on her. I also love how you drew her hair. It's not as shiny-in-your-face as the movie version and I adore the style. I think I just spent 5 minutes looking through all of her portraits before coming out of my daze at the beauty of it all. I love all of your designs but this one especially. It looks so good on her I wish that the movie put her in green instead of pink. I hate pink. I am so glad that you put her in a dark background it balances out the light colors of the dress and Rapunzel herself. You are a great artist and I hope that you keep on doing amazing works of art in which people like me can loose themselves in.

I agree that the Rembrandt-darker version has an appeal that has my imagination wishing to put to paper what my inner eye sees. This is simply stunning and I thank you for getting to see it.

I'd have to agree with you.
As cute and enjoyable the movie was, I wish it was 2D, better character design, and darker. It was just a little too sugar coated for my tastes.
Your art style complements the dress design beautifully!

i love this one, but my favorite was the pink skirt with white corset. its more downdressed, like someone who spent their whole life in their bedroom and never bothered to learn that itchy lace was socially acceptable (seriously, who wears lace if they dont need to). and the final purple dress looks too much like a ripoff of the barbie rapunzel version, bleh

I loved the original design of the dress too, it's less distracting than what ended up on film--it makes her look too young. Beautiful work as always, so much warmth.

I have those thoughts on almost every movie, even the non-animated How about a traditionally animated Pride and Prejudice or Pirates of the Caribbean? I think I would feel like in heaven xD
Beautiful Rapunzel-drawings as always, I love the graceful poses and the golden shimmering hair <3

I do so love this dress. I sort of wish it had stayed, because it gives her such a golden/renascence air. Plus the colour scheme is gorgeous and compliments her hair nicely.

The poses are sweet and I love how you seperated the hair strands. Looks so lovely!

Thank you, I just "stole" the colour scheme from the concept art, but I can't help it, I loved that dress since the first time I saw it and I thought the same as you: it compliments her hair perfectly!
Thanks a lot!

Thank you, as always! Hey, I've read your journal and it seems you are a bit uninspired... can it be? Don't worry, it happens to all of us, we don't feel confident from time to time, but even those times we sketch and try different things, as Im sure you are doing now. What I can tell you is that you have a great style, you put your heart in every piece and improve each day, don't give up because we need you art here (specially me!)

So beautiful! Especially the way you grew her hair

I really miss good old 2D animations :/ I've kinda grown used to all these 3D/computer animated movies but 2D will always have a more ... magical feeling to it

Te has currado bastante el vestido, ¿no?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arbetta In reply to hrothila [2011-11-03 17:09:49 +0000 UTC]

ACTUALIZAAAAAA, SUBE ALGO!!!! Beeeeeeeh! Dónde están esos elfos???

hrothila In reply to Arbetta [2011-11-03 17:48:19 +0000 UTC]

Jo.

Ooohhh This dress is so pretty!
Love the colours in it.

It definitely would be interesting to see what the film would have been like in 2D instead of 3D.
I know there's some pics, but....
& of course, with this dress~
