I'd love to see one of these in the next game, whenever it comes. They could be just as, if not more annoying to fight than the original ones - maybe these'd spit out three Lost Souls at a time, a step up from the two in Doom 64. Could also see them trying to actively avoid the player, keeping their distance and flying away whenever you got close. But if they were cornered, or if you killed enough of their Lost Souls, they'd berserk for a little bit, swinging their arms relentlessly trying to punch/slice you down in a blind fury, before going back to their cowardly mode.

I wonder how the pain elemental gets its name in Doom 4. Maybe it can drive other demons into a frenzy making them stronger than normal. Maybe it can magically you, draining your health and immobilizing you for demons (including the lost souls that it summons) to attack if you get hit by its attack. Your thoughts?

Ooh, I like the idea of it sending other demons into frenzies. Maybe make them attack twice as often, and with a bit of a damage buff too. Then you'd have to figure out if you should focus on the Pain Elemental, focused on the buffed monster, or something else! Throw Summoners in there and they could make a bad situation worse.

Now add Pain Elementals and Summoners that summon More Pain Elementals.

Yep! And the Lost Souls could come out in a kind of formation after getting burst-fired from the Pain Elemental - they'd block the line of fire, so you'd have to work to prioritize it!

Oh man I'd love to make a cool remake of the archvile but the summoner kinda already fills that gap... would still be neat to try if I had the time though
