Description This is one of two immature Red-shouldered Hawks that hatched in a nearby nest. They have been using the wooded area around my house learning their hunting and flying skills. The parents have apparently left them to their own devices at this point and neither sibling is far from the other.

This is my 3rd critique e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Where do I start? Oh yes! This is simply magnificent! You can see lots of individual feathers on the bird that are nice and crisp. You can tell that its eyes are staring straight at the camera- dark and mysterious. Its expression is also appealing- I just can't describe it! The patterns on the birds wings and belly are clear, sharp and very eye catching!

I only take off half a star on vision because of the trees. I know it's sometimes really hard to focus (the camera), and I can see them pretty well, but the background deserves some respect, too. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

I hope deviants of all kinds respect this critique, and I mean well. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

thank you for the kind comments/critique. I continue to strive to improve my nature photography and I guess I left off an important piece of information - the f-stop - f/11 - and the fact that it was a bit overcast and lighting was not prime. I'll keep trying though! Luckily, both youngsters are still flying around and delighting me with more opportunities.

Oh hooray! You're so lucky that you get to be so close to those birds! They are very pretty and elegant! I can't get a picture like that for my life, though. I don't have a professional camera, but that doesn't stop me! Everyone keeps trying, and we are perfect examples !
