hey guys, last night i thought id quickly sketch stuff in painter while i was waiting for something to download...... i ended up not going to bed at all and spending 8 straight hours painting, ive not had a session like that in MONTHS! im tired but its gonna be worth it.anyway this is a 100% resolution crop of a small section of the whole piece im working on.... i liked this little section so i thought id post it up.

I have no idea how you've memorized the correct lighting for all these pictures of smoke and water... I mean, you've done all this so clearly, from scratch...and all the lighting and transparency on the edges of the splashes all makes sense.

once you understand how a single drop of water reflects and refracts its really not that difficult.

But surely the look of a droplet of water is still quite different from the sheet of a wave / splash?

it is different, but not drastically... i just paint stuff until it looks right, not sure of the science behind it.

Cool, I guess after a lot of work it filters into your thoughts, and you can improvise such things.

Wow...it's soo pretty. I love the fish. Actually...I just really like that kind of fish. They're soo pretty. The drips of water from when the fish came down makes the section of the full image very realistic.
Is somebody swimming the water?? I saw the hair and thought, "Ooh! Someone's swimming with the fishes tonight!"

Wow. . . the water droplets are amazing. Of course the whole glimpse of this painting of your is amazing, but the droplets look very real. Awesome job. I can't wait to see the finished outcome. Hope all goes well.

So, this is what your artwork looks like at 100% - it's incredibly detailed even at the full resolution, that's damn impressive. I must say, i thought this was a finished piece before I read the desciption. I simply cannot wait to see the rest of this image.
