This is a shot of the Dock and the back of the Lobby at Port Orleans Riverside, the resort we've stayed at at Walt Disney World the last four times we've gone. And I would stay there always until the end of time, because I love it so much. I highly recommend it, unless you are not highly into walking, because the resort is rather large. But if you don't like walking, why would you go to Disney anyway? It is a 'moderate' resort, meaning it is in the mid-for-Disney price range. We usually can get a night for under a hundred bucks. For that you get a nice sized room, a fridge, the usual room amenities, and SEVEN, yes, count 'em, SEVEN pools. There's also a very nice seafood sit down restaurant, which has breakfast to die for (real strawberries and cream, deep fried french bread smothered in cinammon sugar... yummy), a large food court with reasonable prices if you know where to look (order the kids' meals, they are huge and cost @ $3.50) as well as the usual free Disney bus service.

Normally I post (or will be posting) most of my Disney shots as Stock over on my stock site =Disney-Stock , but I am so happy with this one that I am posting it here, as an art shot.

This photo is gorgeous <3

We stayed here when we went two years ago, and we keep trying out new ones to see our favorites.
I'm trying to convince my mom to stay at French Quarter for our up-coming trip, and she says we'll hafta see, but I love the whole Port Orleans thing so much I don't wanna go to any of the others!

Thank you!

We stayed at Pop Century last trip to save some $$$. I really liked it but I missed Riverside so much.

French Quarter is awesome, too. We've stayed there once. The food court isn't as good, and the store is smaller, but the dragon pool is awesome and the rooms are generally closer to the bus stop.

Haha I know what you mean,
last trip we stayed at All Star Music to save money,
and my mom's looking at Pop Century for this trip,
but I went into the website and went through all the planning
and the difference between the two for our family was not much at all, so she said she'd see what we could do. I'm so excited! I can never get sick of Disney.

Pop Century is infinitely better than the All Stars, so if you have to stay at the cheap resorts stay at Pop. The food court is fabulous, the store is masive, and it has its own bus and doesn't share it with any other resort. Plus you're basically right next to the Studios, and from the right vantage point you can see Illuminations form the resort.

Still not as good as Riverside. If you can get Riverside for just a few hundred more I say go for it. Last trip we saved over $500 by staying at Pop so it was worth it to save that much cash.

Yeah... I can imagine. We usually go for 12 days and do parks for 10, so I think Port Orleans was about 700 more than Pop, so yeah it's a lot of savings but at the same time, it's not THAT much more when you're talking Disney... and considering how amazing Port Orleans is.

I have to say, EPCOT and the Studios have to be my favorite parks, haha, and we generaly go at the lovely time of year when kids are in school so it's not too crowded, and the dining plan is free

AreteEirene In reply to Kieili [2009-03-20 10:35:26 +0000 UTC]

We had one trip where the difference was only about $250, and another where they gave us a $500 discount to stay at French Quarter!

My favorite parks are always changing around. I'd say that right now Epcot and the Animal Kingdom are my favorites. But that could always change next time I go.

Wow that's awesome!
We were there during Hurricane Charley, so they gave us a free day pass eaach person for that, and something happened another time so we have a total of 8 free day passes, we're saving up.My mom said theyre gonna use them for her and my dad, haha.

I know what you mean! Changes for me a lot too. I just love the feeling after hours at the Studios, when you've had a late dinner or something and you're leaving the park... and like, nobody's there but you and some workers... it's amazing

I had a bunch when I left Disney, but now I'm down to just one lonely little comp-pass.

After hours at all the parks is fabulous. I adore the new extra magic hours in the evenings - World Showcase is practically deserted. And for our last trip I went up under the Tree of Life and didn't see one other person the whole time. It was so nice to be able to get my tripod out and not be anyone's way.

I know!! Especially when you go at that time of year everyone's in school, there's few people there to begin with, and I remember on our last trip we ate at England for dinner, and we were outside for the fireworks, and then we ate. When we got out the hours were going and a few people were hanging around, but not many. the lighting at the parks is phenomenal, especially at EPCOT seeing the colors light up that giant ball... it's amazing

Riverside's a nice resort, but deep down... I'm still a fan of the French Quarter. Although of the resorts I've stayed at, Wilderness Lodge is tops so far.

Although, the only resort I'm not too big on is Coronado Springs, that was too big, and too spread out.

AreteEirene In reply to OriginalOddball [2008-10-24 00:27:17 +0000 UTC]

We've stayed at both Riverside and French Quarter. I love them both but prefer Riverside a bit more.

We've stayed at Wilderness Lodge just once back when it was brand new. I loved it but my dad wasn't too thrilled - he said it was too far to take a smoke.

My cousins stayed at Coronado Springs and we went over in the afternoon one day to eat and swim. It was such a long walk from their room over to the food court.

I know right I mean, I know its Disney and all, the walking capital... But come on, there is such a thing as too much walking.

AreteEirene In reply to OriginalOddball [2008-10-24 03:55:10 +0000 UTC]

You know its bad when two people who've both stayed at Riverside accuse Coronado Springs of being too "big".

I've know i've told you this before, but Port Orleans Riverside is my second favorite place on earth! i love it so much! i love waking up early in the morning and just taking a long walk around the place. I love sitting in the lobby and watching the Disney movies they put on the TV. i just absolutely love it!! And the food court is so much fun! i always sit in the back at the window looking out at the water mill thing. (sorry, i just had a brain fart and completely forgot what those big water churning wheel things are) i just love the atmosphere of that place. i feel so happy there. and this shot is one of the best i've seen of Riverside. I love it at night, with all those lamps lit up. you have no idea how much i love this shot! Riverside is the place we normall stay at every year, but i haven't been there for 2 years. i miss it so!
i believe i will fave this for ya, now!

You changed you sig!

Maybe someday we can both be at Riverside at the same time! I really mean it when I say I could live there. Permanently.

I have a bunch of shots waiting to go up on the ol' stock site when I get the chance. But this shot I just love too much. In fact, I was looking through my pics and realized that last trip I never took any pictures of Parterre, which was newly opened after the remodel and where we had a third floor room! Dang it!!! Gives me an excuse for next time! I also need to stroll back through the Bayou, which I love, but we always stay in the Mansions. But I love them too!
