Description
Spring! Thought outside the window there's rain and fog, I officially consider spring has started. And that's because in April thoughts, hearts, parks and on heads of the maiko reigns Her Majesty, the Sakura.
Sakura is a widely recognizable and emblematic symbol of Japan, seen on everyday objects, including kimonos, stationery, and tableware.
Cherry Blossom is often used as a metaphor for the fragile nature of life and often appears in Japanese art. Japanese pilots painted it on their planes before taking on a suicide mission, believing that the souls of the fallen warriors would reincarnate as flowers.
Today - fortunately - it is associated with beauty and joy. Every year, the Japanese follow Sakura-Zensen, which is " Cherry Blossom front ". Together with friends and families, they go to parks and for Hanami (花見), meaning "flower viewing " - picnics, often accompanied by with listening to traditional music and dancing.
And today, I want to show you the sakura that has bloomed in my workshop. The subtle baby-pink petals are surrounded by delicate, opening buds.
April is here.
