Description Dilophosaurus wetherilli was a medium sized theropod from the early Jurassic period. The most eye-catching feature of this carnivore were its two crests, which while being the feature most connected to this animal, aren’t exclusive to Dilophosaurus. Other dinosaurs had similar crests, such as Lophostropheus, Dracovenator and Sinosaurus. What really pushed Dilophosaurus into the mainstream however was its appearance in Jurassic Park (ironically being one of the only two Jurassic animals featured in the first movie). In the movie it was depicted as much smaller than its real life counterpart (possibly a juvenile?) and with a frill which it unfolded when spitting venom at its victims. This is not supported by fossil evidence and entirely fabricated by both the author of the book and the film makers (as there was no frill in the novel). But since JP is JP, this depiction made it into pop culture, most prominently ARK (which took all 3 features) and Primal Carnage (which removed the frill). The pattern of this one is based on the Dilophosaurus from Jurassic Park, as requested by The Red Raptor on Google+.
