Description Painting to model comparison

Build of a paper model originally designed by bunnyears. Model Is based on painting from an old '70s art book (mini cover repro in pic) "Terran Trade Authority Space Wreck" by Stewart Cowley.

A LOT of modifications to original design. Original design was a forced perspective miniature and utilized the original art as texture work. Dead pilot was added and modified from an existing design, model was extended and modified so that it could be viewed from any angle, control panel was scratchbuilt as well as the ribs. Base was extended and covered with railroad grass.

This is fantastic!  I absolutely loved those books, wish I owned them.    I seem to remember a weapon system from one of those books, one that would pop out of the ground, called the 'Tarantula' I think.  You should make a paper model of that one (if you know which one I am speaking of)

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to do and I did love the books it came from (so much so that 30 years later I repurchased them off the web).
