For one of my pumpkins this year, I decided to do my same leopard pumpkin pattern, which I used on a fake one before, on a real one. I submitted it for a pumpkin carving contest at my school, and can you believe it didn't even place?!! The winner pumpkin had two holes (not even well cut) for the eyes and some pumpkin guts spilling out the mouth. And that was first place. Second and third were even more lame. I am so mad.I like how it turned out though. I think it looks much better than the fake one.

I would have voted first place for you. Not only did this turn out flawlesslly, but you're also using more advanced techniques. This my first year ever trying the shading technique, an this is what I got. fav.me/damyen2 And yours even blows mine out of the water lol

im sure it looks fudging amazing when its lit ... it looks pretty beast in the day too lol wish i could carve like that i did a skull and cross bones last year but it was like the ouke pumpkin compared to urs... which sould have won!!

Sadly, I've lost track of it. I looked for it when I posted my tiger, but no luck. If I ever come across it I'll definitely post it!

Thats amazing! I thought I did pretty well with my stupid grim reaper pumpkin this year, but it looks like I have a ways to go before I can run with the pros. lol

Your work with the shadows is spectacular! I'm amazed at the detail you put into that pumpkin! (How long did it take you to carve and sculpt it?)
Sheesh, that would tick me off if I submitted an awesome pumpkin like yours and didn't place... I would probably be sulking for a week... XD

It took me about four hours (I'm guessing) including the emptying part.

I love the leopard. It's a shame that you lost to a pumpkin that required neither skill nor creativity to carve. (The puke pumpkin has been circulating the Internet for years; I used to do them 12 years ago.)

That's pretty rediculous that it didn't even place, the only reason I can think of that it wouldn't is that the judges thought you had gotten someone to do it for you...Either that, or they'd been drinking turpentine beforehand.
