I'm so sad about it being on the 3DS only. Time to borrow my roommates!

sobs understands your pain of not having a 3DS but wanting to play pokemon ;___;; Yeaah, it's not worth it to pay that much just for it though. DX
Ahh, but she looks super cute! I love the texture use~ ;v;

Well
I could go into a really long explanation as to why, but the short answer is that it's gone totally stale. They keep adding Pokemon, but the core mechanics stopped changing significantly around Gen 4.
I could be wrong about the game though, seeing as it's not been released yet, but the last 2 generations have been... disappointing :\

I get what you mean ^^ My fav generation was ruby/sapphire aha
but I think in a way maintaining those core mechanics are a good thing because it's still the same premise as it was when it first started out, which gives it kind of an sentimental charm...in a way? it's hard to explain aha. I just find something about familiarity really endearing. but I understand this is a personal preference and I can see why other people would want something fresh and completely new.
I guess we'll have to wait till it's fully released to get real feedback on the gameplay and mechanics ^^ I hope it's not a disappointment either.

It's not that I want something completely new, per se. It's just that, the Pokemon series as a whole is kind of basically just one game, but with each new cartridge they release, they're taking the old game and making it better. That worked fine to a point, but then they started skipping the whole "making it better" part and just keep re-releasing it with different dresses and new iterations of the same handful of Pokemon over and over.
With exceptions, of course. Pokes like Ferrothorn and Jellicent definitely add a whole new twist to the strategy.

lmao yeah I never understood the point of the third versions of the generation? like pokemon emerald or pokemon black/white 2 because it was the same game pretty much just different protags and a new legendary..?
and I'm gonna be honest I had to look up those pokemon cause I just pretty much stopped memorizing the names of the new pokemon after diamond/pearl lol
but I like how some stuff is different with the new regions? like how in black/white the bad guys want to liberate pokemon instead of imprison or how you have to fight the elite four twice before you can actually be league champ lol
I think those were some nice changes of pace ^^

hnkkorgris In reply to arrowmi [2013-01-11 21:56:58 +0000 UTC]
I think it would be cool if you actually could become the league champ and have a little minigame where you have to fight contestants that made it through
Or if they actually aged Pokemon with its original audience, so instead of gearing the next game towards kids again, it could be geared towards people our age, and make it about murder mysteries or something cool like that.
Dude, Nintendo should totally hire me

arrowmi In reply to hnkkorgris [2013-01-12 23:50:17 +0000 UTC]
but at least for black/white the protags were designed to be older than the previous generations? which was a nice change too
murder mysteries would be cool LOL but I can see how it wouldn't work marketing wise since the "kid" audience is still a huge component of their consumers

Which is a damn shame. Cartoons seem to be getting the hang of marketing to both audiences...
Like adventure time. Or that show with the whale and the maple syrup.

You just mostly have to know how to work ebay, bid a lower price and let the other person think they won and increase your max bid at the last possible minute. ^^

lmao I'm familiar with ebay but $60 seems like a really rad deal? like when did you buy it? before the news of the new pokemon or after?
cause if you look at ebay now all of the consoles are around the $100-120+ range

I'm sure a rom of the game will appear online soon after it's release, so you could always go for that. ^^

HAHA I actually looked that up a few days ago but I heard it's not possible or something to play 3DS games on the computer? :0 something about the hardware being a little different than previous DS and DSi versions so it wouldn't work on a computer.
but please correct me if I'm wrong lol I would totally love to be able to play it on the computer

I don't know then...I mean I have a ds emulator, but I haven't looked up a 3ds one. I had just figured if they had emulators for the others they might have had one for this as well....maybe they'll eventually have one up then. ^^

same!
Would it be playable on one of those simulator things you can download for your pc?
π: 0 β©: 1
arrowmi In reply to glitch-ish [2013-01-12 23:20:05 +0000 UTC]
I read that it's not possible cause the hardware for 3DS games are different from the DS Lite and it's playable ONLY on the 3DS because that's the only tech that can support the special hardware. ):
