I think the colours used here are perfect for period - there's a sense of simplicity and groundedness in his clothing, but hope for adventure in his face. I like that you've used a low perspective to throw his face forward against a light and promising sky.

I love the loose line strokes you have here. If you are doing this completely digital, I really would like to know how you get that result. I would love to use my Photoshop, to get a more sketchy look at times. Haven't mastered that yet. But, I'm still new at total drawing in Photoshop. Usually it's design work, and photo manipulations, but not like this. Not until recently.

The original sketch was done the traditional way with pencil and paper. I color mainly with a standard hard round brush at about 30% flow with the "other dynamics" set on pen pressure. I like coloring it that way because it gives it a marker-y feel and avoids the air-brush-y look. Color and painting are still fairly new to me, though, so I'm still learning.
I'm glad you like it and thanks for the fave!

Thank you for your explanation of how you arrive at the final image. It helps me understand more of what I'm doing different than what other artists do with their work. I have to say, that I learned how to work in Photoshop, when there wasn't any version 1, 2, 3 etc... on my own. I didn't even read the how to's... I still as of yet, don't use all of the available tools, like masking, but I can manipulate and create things that even some people who know Photoshop better than me, haven't figured out. Though to me, some of this in photoshop is clearly artistic, and not technical. That's what I learned. If the end result wowed the person viewing the work, then who cares if it was exactly by the book?
Anyway, I do appreciate what you do. Your work is really good.
