This is a redesign of Superman done for a jam over at ([link] ).

My goal here was to try and come up with a design that would fit in well with the universe created by my buddy Thom, who runs the TRDL site. You can see many of his character designs here ([link] ) just click on the "TRDL Universe" link. There's lots of great stuff there!

I knew the first thing I wanted to do was change up the 'S' somewhat, that being the most recognizable part of the character, but still keep it similar enough so that viewers knew exactly who they were looking at.

What I did is just get rid of the negative space in the corners and fatten that 's' up so that it filled the whole diamond shape. I also knew that I wanted to have the same blue for the background as he had for the rest of his uniform. After that I decided he didn't really need the borders for the diamond where the blue background met the blue of the uniform since the shape of the 's' was suggesting the diamond shape by itself.

A lot of the designs in TRDL shy away from the typical booted superhero and opt for a type of body suit that extends all the way to the foot with only a different color for the soles, so I tried that here. I originally was going to leave the calves all blue but decided against it after seeing how it looked.

I actually liked the belt I did for my other superman redesign, so I left it pretty much alone here. I felt it fit in well with the TRDL-verse as well.

Since I did have the red on the legs I decided to do something similar on the arms for balance.

The yellow for the shoulders I almost left blue, but I really felt the costume was too plain without it. I added in the criss-crossing lines just to make it look more interesting as I felt the yellow without it was kind of boring and too bright as well.

I apologize for the poor image quality, its too big for my scanner and my camera is giving me fits. If I ever get a better version I'll be sure to post it here.
