May I ask what kind of program and which tools you used to get the skin coloured? I ussually have a really hard time choosing a base colour and I fail massively with the burn and dodge tools (in photoshop).

If you have problem to choose skin colour you should try "Eyedropper Tool" in Photoshop.

That's what I've tried, but more green coloured pale humans appear than I want. Nah, seriously, I'm not satisfied about the base colour. For example in [link] I think the base colour is still too dark, but changing it to a less dark colour gives me a not much better feeling... not to mention I didn't finished colouring it. I didn't colour the bell and the hair would be better in a different colour..

at the Layer of Base colour you can use "Image > Adjustment > Color Balance or Brightness/Contrast or Hue/Saturation" in task menu to modify colour until you satisfy.
