They were running after the dragon girl who had vanished around the bend in the river. Their feet pounded across the smooth rocks of the river bed, but it seemed she wasn't going to run far.
The girl slid into a small hole in the wall. They could clearly see her, but due to their sizes, reaching her was difficult.
"Come on out little one." One said, trying to coax her out, though his malicious grin was all too obvious.
"No!" The girl hissed and spat at them.
"Get out here ya damn brat!" He tried to reach for her arm.
"Go away!" She shouted in defiance.
The man's finger approached her face and instinctively she opened her mouth and spat. The liquid became a great flame on contact with the air and she spewed fire on his face. The man screamed in agony as the flames ate away at his flesh.
The girl, too, grasped at her throat in agony. She'd never done such a thing before. Her throat burned as her body spasmed uncontrollably. It felt as if it was burning from the inside out.
"Gaaaahhh! Fuuuuu..." The man screamed in agony.
"Hey! She's down! Grab her! Get the collar! She'll make us rich!" A third man shouted, rushing into the fray.
His hands reached towards the girl who struggled in their grip. The pain made her weak and she collapsed against him as he pulled her tight. She felt cold metal roughly placed on her neck and something even colder than the iron felt like it was coiling around her limbs. She wanted to scream, to cry but she couldn't utter a word anymore.
