critique resubmitted by request of the artist:
This work has an odd combination of facial personality and crotch shot that shows a naturally sexy professional pilot who uses every moment and movement to her advantage - she invites you to view her dominance and charms
The artist has reversed many of the usual erotic conventions showing traditionally 'hot' areas of the body as 'cool' - areas of the picture that one would expect to be pushed into the background are brought forward and emphasised such as the use of red and pink in the background - and even the sheen of a 'containment field'? adds a certain mystery.
This is part of the contrast, the refusal to follow the norm that makes it unique, and because of the unusual application of and generally careful technique, also compelling
It reminds me of bob dylan's 'Visions of Johanna' in which Louise is described as: "all too concise and too clear" yet it is Louise who "with her lover is so entwined" ... normally passion is represented by blurred vision - yet here you are dared to view in a cool, calm and collected state of mind a body that is totally gorgeous - and a face that is compelling in it's depth and detail.
This is not a static work - there is more than one axis at work here - sweeping across as well as up and down, it swings.
Note the parted lips - that might be accompanied by a slight flaring of the nostrils? - to draw in more oxygen? - her excitement has to be palpable - she shows the viewer her best form and enticingly straddles the rim of the cockpit as she climbs into that place where she gets her biggest kicks
Advise you, the artist, look at the details a bit more and work on the questions of what is too near and what is exactly in place
Especially with the ship itself. the foreground rough bronze texture of the superstructure paneling is beautiful and contrasts appealingly with her smoother thigh flesh tones and the brighter blue to the left.
There are unexpected multiple areas of clarity (this may equate to focus on the part of the viewer) in the ship's metal that would not occur in a photo, as with her. so the viewer is invited to focus both on her face, flanks and crotch as though they are simultaneously in separate realities or time-periods.
This both enhances and distracts - is it intentional I wonder? Well yes - but maybe it could be finer balanced?
There is one real fly in the ointment = her left shoulder and arm - that needs work as it is far too disjointed, almost totally 2 dimensional in places and the shoulder insignia out of sync with the shoulder pad behind it
That is echoed in better fashion in her elbow pad and the flap of her boot - the latter being of a colouring and texture reminiscent of the inside of a mouth or other, yet shaped like and harmonising with the hands - very devious given the juxtaposition to the thigh and the delights that leads to.
So I feel that a novel technique is being explored and deviously and deliberately exploited to powerful effect, but there are technical flaws that are not part of this - if the shoulder can be fixed then it's a solid 4 ... if the definition of the ship and ship and her torso can be tweaked oh so very carefully and lightly then it all goes to a 4.5, or bust out ^^ It has exceeded it's own limitations to some degree, beyond what is reasonable so there is passion at work here. well worth a view. Michaelangelo would have appreciated this
a thousand words would not be enough to describe this accurately
I like it. Thank you for displaying it. Hope you enjoy the frankness of this humble critique ^^

Truly enjoyed your critique. It was thoughtful and well written and points out just what I needed to see in a critique. I think I've gotten better in this aspect since I painted this piece but it's something that I'll will be concentrating on in the future. Best wishes friend and many thanks!

I feel any useful critique should be formed of half-formed thoughts and inspirations reaching out for something extra ... if it is too accurate or 'perfect' the artist is denied the pleasure of finding his/her solutions. My pleasure therefore

Wow, very nice. Her face and hair is almost photo realistic. I'm betting in the future you will be making things that are almost indistinguishable from photos of real life things.

Yeah, I guess that's true. I do realize that a lot of people like different styles that aren't photo realistic. I just personally find drawings/paintings that are insanely realistic to be very cool. They blow my mind every time.

Somethingabout her face looks very photoshopped into the artwork. Not sure why. But beautiful job!

It's not that they're less good, they just seem stylistically different. Which is interesting. :3

At first i thought it was some profile of a cool hot chick and then i've stopped and ask myself how could a beautiful chick know how to photoshop at that level, and then i realised it was a drawing..haha..ashamed to tell you that.
