My first sketch of Mugen, with washes of watercolor added. Started out as more or less a doodling, so it's not even on a good support -- it's on a printer paper. LOL I'll do my next one on a real paper.Related content

Drawing Mugen is an interesting experience. I always say that I'm a "Jin forever all the way" fangirl, but every time I draw Mugen, I feel like I'm cheating on Jin because I'd be going, "Y'know, Mugen is actually so smexy... and uber good-looking."

I used to draw faces only. I'm drawing bodies now, and sometimes in very difficult postures. What I need is to learn how to soft shade, do multiple shades of skin, etc. I need SUBTLETY. But step-by-step I hope to get there.

You said you have Corel Painter, right? Do you use multiple layers for shading?
It makes it easier if you did the midtone/base tone of skin on one layer, shadow on another (sometimes a few layers for different levels of darkness), ambiant/reflected light on another, and highlight on another.

Yes, I always use multiple layers, but I do hard/fill shading. Tried blurring today on a Roy (FMA) pin-up.

That episode of the anime somehow had a really low quality of art, compared to most other episode for some reason... I kind of had to remake him in my head.

You know, the scene in the anime when he licks the wound on his cheek from Sara is hot, but the art in that episode is particularly horrible. Your version is soooo much better!
